Port Operations Officer EQUATORIAL GUINEA

YOUR ROLE
Reporting to the GM hierarchically and to the CAMEROON Cluster’s COO functionally, you will be responsible for the physical execution of the container journey, from discharge from a vessel to loading back on a vessel. Within this role your scope includes all port and vessel operations in Equatorial Guinea ports. In addition, you are responsible for ILS which manages all intermodal transports over the country ports and the management of empty equipment under the scope.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?:
The main mission of the Chief Operations Officer is the management of the operational execution of the container journey within the scope assigned. This includes both import, export, transhipment, and empty containers.
- In coordination with our Cluster, Head- and Regional-Office define and manage the strategy to optimize operations within your scope, to offer both the best possible product to our customers and manage costs.
- Manage vessel schedules in the port of Equatorial Guinea (berthing schedule / gang deployment) for CMA CGM Group operated vessels. Act as main contact for Lines, Regional Office and terminals on specific vessel call operations. Propose and work-out solutions to minimize vessel delay and minimize port stay.
- Prepare call, secure and coordinate berth windows at terminals for all Group operated vessels, advise improvement opportunities to Lines and Regional Offices
- Ensure timely communication regarding planned operational schedule changes, providing all relevant documentation and necessary support to the vessel and its crew
- Local advisor for Marine Procurement topics (terminals, tugs, pilots, port dues, etc), in close coordination with Cluster, Head and Regional Office Marine and Terminal Procurement teams.
- Develop and manage the intermodal network of ILS. This means all solutions to and from ports in the ILS.
- Negotiate with suppliers to secure cost/quality/capacity in line with the group strategy and corporate guideline.
- Identify cost savings areas for Equipment and M&R, report the benefits and develop Logistics revenue
- Supervise stock management and ensure Logistics performance KPI
- Define and manage the intermodal selling rates for the scope of ILS
- Bring support to sales team to sell Intermodal products/services
- Identify new business opportunities (traffic services available on the market) and share to commercial teams / RO intermodal / HO intermodal
- Manage the operational execution from order taking and execution follow up with our vendors, ensuring we offer the best possible service to our customers.
- Support our commercial teams to develop new and innovative solutions for our customers.
- Cost reduction realization for all operational costs under your scope (vessel/cargo ops, intermodal and equipment costs).

- Build and maintain trusting relationships with key customers, clients, partners, and stakeholders
- Monitor performance with tracking software and take corrective measures when necessary, and prepare detailed updates and forecasts
- Monitor performance and KPIs and work with the team on continuous development
- Ensure alignment to the Core model and Core processes and tools
- Collaborate with lines, Partners, and agency sales teams and set clear objectives and working procedures per service to achieve the most beneficial calls commercially, Operationally and Cost wise
- Identify cost savings areas and report the benefits
- Forecast and report all major events to agency management teams, RO, Lines, OPS direction, and
all other stakeholders and prepare a mitigation operational plan
- Collaborate with Procurement in RO and HO for renewal of the contracts and SLAs and highlight
the operational and financial requirements
- Measuring the efficiency of an organisation’s operational processes and taking steps to improve them
- Focus on the group’s assets’ best productivity, Cargo loading priorities, Less dwell time, Operational cost reduction
- Monitor Waiting time, Idle time, and productivity using core dashboards and focus on KPIs continuous improvements
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?:
- Preferably master’s degree in Transport & Logistics, business administration or management.
- At least 10 to 15 years within the logistics and container transport environment.
- Excellent knowledge of English is required.
- Knowledge of French is an advantage.
- Manage, coach and maintain a solid, qualified, and experienced team and leadership
- Knowledge of ports and vessel operations, inland terminal/depot and transport network.
