ANL & CMA CGM Timor Leste is a wholly owned subsidiary of CMA CGM Worldwide Agencies (France) and represents the interests of CMA CGM throughout Timor Leste. Operating from its headquarters in Dili the company provides a full range of personalised and e-commerce solutions to all its customers nationwide including many of Timor Leste's premier exporters and importers and leading brands.
About the Role:
Reporting to the Managing Director – Oceania, the General Manager Timor Leste is responsible for the safe, efficient and profitable operation of ANL’s business activities in Timor-Leste encompassing but not limited to TL Agency and yard operations. You will develop and monitor all the activities of the Agency and lead a team of 3 staff with 11 indirect staff.
The role and responsibilities will include:
- Provide timely and insightful reports to MD, Oceania Agencies monthly, analysing key performance indicators, market trends, and operational performance to support strategic decision-making.
- Ensure all expenditures represent the best value for money and comply with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
- Develop and manage annual budgets, taking responsibility for achieving financial targets and exercising prudent financial control.
- Actively network within the Timor-Leste business community to identify and pursue new business opportunities that align with the company's growth objectives.
- Provide inspiring leadership and direction to the team, fostering a collaborative and high-performing work environment that motivates employees to achieve individual and collective goals.
- Ensure the implementation of local sustainability initiatives in line with company policy and needs.
- Lead the development and execution of comprehensive sales and marketing strategies to drive revenue growth, expand market share, and achieve business objectives for CMA CGM and ANL container shipping services in Timor-Leste.
- Champion a customer-centric culture that prioritizes service excellence, responsiveness, and proactive problem-solving to build strong customer relationships and drive loyalty.
- Develop and implement strategies to optimize the flow of empty containers, minimizing idle time and storage costs while ensuring sufficient availability to meet customer demand.
- Manage the day-to-day operations of the ANL depot in a safe, efficient, and profitable manner.
- Oversee all yard operations, including the movement and storage of empty containers.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
- Tertiary qualification in business & related fields
- 5 years of managerial exposure
- Demonstrated expertise in the commercial, sales, agency, and operational aspects of the shipping industry, with a comprehensive understanding of container logistics, shipping operations, and international trade.
- Proven negotiation skills, with the ability to effectively negotiate contracts, resolve disputes, and secure favorable terms for the company
- Strong understanding of local statutory requirements and regulations
