ROLE:

 

The General Manager for the inland corridor plays an integral role in a strategic market for CMA CGM, handling all country-related activities for the shipping agencies in Malawi Zambia and Zimbabwe. He/she will provide leadership to the Countries and work closely with Cluster team. He/she will redefine and implement the country operational and strategic plan to ensure continued growth and optimized operations while promoting Customer Intimacy & facilitating Market Agility. He/she will work as One CMA CGM Team providing a harmonious end-to-end journey for our customers, using best in class Innovative Solutions and Enhanced Processes implemented globally.


REPORTING STRUCTURE:  

 

Direct Team : Commercial, Customer Care and Finance and Administration teams in Malawi, Zambia Zimbabwe. 13 Team Members
Location : Zimbabwe

 

RESPONSABILITIES : 

 

  • Working closely with Cluster, Regional and head office to manage and develop all aspects of the agency and countries including commercial, financial, intermodal and operational inland activities. 
  • Strengthen the market share for the Group including achievement of target cross sell opportunities in the country/cluster and monitoring/optimizing operating costs. 
  • Be a key point of contact on ground for global accounts, main providers and local authorities, and create added value to the Group regarding development prospects.
  • Ensure commercial excellence and maintain close relationship with the line. 
  • Ensure unity and development of the agency by standardizing the control activities and guaranteeing the whole budget, KPIs and performance of the agency. Set objectives to achieve, in line with the strategy determined by the Cluster, Regional Office and Head office.
  • Ensure implementation of reporting tools for relevant stakeholders, proper applications of procedures and rules of the Group, while maintaining and developing frequent and regular relationships with Regional Office and HQ. 
  • Take charge of the voice of customers from the agency and countries with appropriate information to the regional office and head office as appropriate. Anticipate customer issues and escalations and keep the regional office and head office informed.
  • Develop inland intermodal CH ratio and ensure growth via all surrounding ports.
  • Strong focus on administrative requirements of agencies to ensure seamless operations
  • Take responsibility of ensuring proper implementation of organization & business transformation group efforts while driving change & leading teams to embrace this change.
  • Ensure compliance to legal, statutory obligations of the Agency / Country.
  • Drive Operating costs with continual savings for the group while maximizing revenue.
  • Behave, act and build on the One CMA CGM team spirit and in line with the group values 
  • Drive CRM utilization and quick adoption and execution of teams 
  • Work Closely with Intermodal Procurement and operations teams to drive Intermodal growth.
  • Oversee dispute management.

 

 

PROFILE :

 

  • At least 10 to 15 years of industry experience across shipping or transportation industry, including international exposure with a multinational organization.
  • Team player, driven and motivated for excellence and proven record of commercial
  • Work experience in matrix environment in large international organizations.
  • Knowledge of Commercial and/or Operations functions will be an advantage.
  • Ability to engage a diversity of stakeholders at various levels, strong communication skills
  • Strong problem-solving skills and creativity with the ability to hear everyone’s opinions. 
  • Those open for global mobility and international careers across the group will be preferred
