THE ROLE | PURPOSE

 

  • As a key member of the UK&I Executive Leadership team, the Chief Commercial Officer is primarily accountable the strategic leadership of all Sales activity for the UK Agency.
  • As a seasoned Commercial Leader, the CCO will inspire the UK Sales function to consistently identify and exploit new commercial opportunities, develop existing customer portfolios, and establish presence in new and emerging markets, in pursuit of our ambitious UK Growth Strategy.  
  • The CCO will be a key figure in representing the CMA CGM Group’s business interests, representing the UK Agency at Group level and regularly engaging with Executive Leadership in both Regional Office and Head Office.
  • Operationally, the CCO is accountable for developing meaningful relationships with major customers of the UK agency, whilst driving strategic and operational activities in all areas of Sales, Marketing and Business Development.  
  • A strong people Leader, you will champion and embed the Company’s Employee Engagement culture, providing clear and influential leadership to the UK Sales Function, fostering a culture of high performance and high engagement.  

 

 

WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING | KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Define and execute the UK Commercial Strategy, actively contributing to the overall UK Agency growth strategy and ensuring close alignment with Group goals and objectives.

  • Strategically reviewing existing products and services, with a focus on development and implementation of new products and services, contributing to the strengthening of the Group’s market position.

  • Define and lead UK Agency Marketing strategy, directing marketing activities, with the goal of achieving market penetration and sales growth through cost-effective customer acquisition and market demand generation.

  • Establish and nurture key relationships across the group, for example Executive Leadership in the UK, Regional Office and Group Head Office, and HO / Group Trade teams, CEVA, to ensure UK agency is appropriately represented and well placed to succeed against its strategic and operational objectives.

  • Develop and direct strategic initiatives in support of enterprise-wide Business Development opportunities, ensuring opportunities and associated strategies are consistent with the Group’s overarching strategy for revenue growth and increased market share.

  • Be an instrumental contributor to the identification and implementation of new products, cross-selling opportunities and marketing strategies, working in close collaboration with Trade teams and relevant group stakeholders.

  • With the support of the UK Sales Management team, define and lead the execution of best practice policies and performance measures throughout the UK Sales function and wider agency, i.e. Pricing policies, Sales targets, Sales processes and Customer Service principles.

  • Ensures that effective internal controls are in place to ensure compliance with HO sales policies and guidelines.

  • Actively contribute to Group projects and initiatives, striving to identify any opportunities that will benefit the UK Agency

  • Instil and role model a culture of effective change management and best practice across the UK Agency, encouraging a mindset of innovation, continuous improvement and high performance.

  • Ensuring the UK Sales Function and resource management remains aligned to the strategic and operational objectives of the UK Sales function, UK Agency and wider CMA CGM Group.

  • Accountability for effective resource planning of the UK Sales team, ensuring FTE and HC are suitably aligned to achieving objectives whilst ensuring compliance with agreed budgets and cost management principles.

  • Promote a culture of high engagement and performance within the UK Sales function, through the effective application of robust and engaging performance management practices and effectively managing expectations to ensure that colleagues work well together and are fully engaged.

  • Working closely with UK Sales Management team to ensure proactive Talent Management and Succession Planning, identifying and nurturing a pipeline of Talent within the UK Sales function and ensuring opportunities for growth and development are evident.

 

 

WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU? | KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

 

  • Proven strategic leadership experience in a Commercial function within a relevant industry, i.e. Shipping and Logistics  

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to develop and manage effective working relationships at all levels.

  • Demonstrable Project and Change management expertise, with proven track record of timely delivery of large-scale strategic projects

  • Proven decision making and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence key (Senior) stakeholders.  

  • Strong knowledge of the Macroeconomic and industry trends, and Sales Verticals within relevant markets for the UK Agency

  • Proven experience of effectively managing Resource budget and cost management initiatives within designated business area

  • Highly developed analytical and problem identification & solving skills to ensure the optimal solution is reached.

  • Demonstrable People leadership and management experience, with proven ability to instil a culture of high performance and high engagement within teams.
