JOB PURPOSE & OVERVIEW

 

Proactively configure and administrate the UK Server Infrastructure.  Ensure all Server Hardware and Software issues are efficiently managed through to resolution.  Prioritise and escalate faults accordingly.  Ensure that SLA’s and KPI’s are adhered to. Provide  L2 / L3 Support and technical guidance to Local IT in the UK and Europe region, also advising on HO and security standards and monitoring compliance.

 

The company also has a balanced approach to cloud computing so this role will also assist with Cloud computing, so is a great opportunity for someone willing to progress their IT skills into Cloud computing and support the infrastructure hosted within this environment.

 

As this role covers European agencies, occasional travel might be required to the company's UK & European offices.

 

 

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES 

 

  • Build and Maintain Servers in a Virtual Environment
  • Build and Maintain Server Infrastructure that supports the Virtual Environment
  • Pro-actively monitor and administrate the Server Infrastructure and Virtual Environment
  • Provide support and governance to the Europe Region for on-premise Infrastructure standards
  • Manage and support the Domain infrastructure for the Europe Region
  • Assist with the migration of some on-premise servers to the cloud environment
  • Support and maintain the cloud environment for application servers
  • Build concise and thorough documentation for Server and Application installations
  • Provide technical guidance/support to IT projects
  • Provide hands-on Server and Application support when necessary
  • Support and maintain the DR and Backup Infrastructure
  • Adhere to corporate IT security standards

 

 

Key Performance Indicators

 

  • Provide a working Production environment with an emphasis on minimal downtime
  • Produce proper and thorough documentation
  • Conform to Head Office and Local Blueprints & Standards
  • Provide timely and effective technical support of servers, infrastructure, hardware and software
  • Provide a secure and reliable electronic environment
  • Provide Redundancy and Resilience for Servers Infrastructure and Environment
  • Ensure the Backup Infrastructure is working, reliable and effective

 

 

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE 

 

  • Microsoft Windows Server 2016 / 2019 / 2022
  • Good understanding of Physical Hardware and DataCentre environment
  • Knowledge of Active Directory / DNS / DHCP etc.
  • Knowledge of VMWare Environments
  • Knowledge of SAN and NAS environments with an emphasis on iSCSI
  • Knowledge of Veeam backup solution – desirable
  • Knowledge of Cloud computing (AWS / Azure) - desirable

 

 

 

Practical and Technical Knowledge

 

  • Microsoft Windows operating systems
  • Active Directory / DNS / DHCP etc.
  • Virtual environments (VMWare and Hyper V)
  • aWS cloud computing advantageous
  • knowledge of backup/snapshot technologies
  • Aptitude for troubleshooting
