Business Relationship Management Expert

1. Brief Description


Part of the Shipping activity of CMA CGM IT, role of INVOICING & DDSM team is to ensure the delivery of system added value changes to support the Business strategy and growth.

Main activities of INVOICING & DDSM team are to:

  1. Collect the need for change from Business
  2. Analyse it from an IT point of view
  3. Clarify it to development team
  4. Review the workload estimation
  5. Prioritize and rank it with Business
  6. Coordinate the delivery governance and plan for this need
  7. Validate the functional specifications
  8. Run functional and/or integration testing
  9. Follow and support User Acceptance Testing
  10. Ensure the subjects are correctly integrated the delivery plan and do the follow up till they are actually delivered
  11. Follow the change management with Business
  • Business Expert role will focus on points 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9 and 11, in order to make sure that service is delivered to Business taking respecting the demand.


2. Key Result Areas

  • Coordination of all Business counterparts’ interventions on the domain subjects in a good and respectful atmosphere
  • Capture and describe Business Requirements (BR) so that both Product Owners and IT teams fully understand and validate the expressed need
  • Orchestrate Request For Proposal (RFP) & Request For Information (RFI) for projects requested by Business
  • Help Business Units to prioritize their IT Requests within the overall IT roadmap, budget and capacity
  • Handle arbitrations between Business Requesters and IT Departments
  • Validate Design Documents submitted by IT teams in accordance with Product Owners guidelines
  • Provide required support to Business testers during User Acceptance Testing
  • Ensure the communication to Business about progress of Business Requests delivery
  • Ensure transversal functional consistency of the Information System of the Group
  • Reporting done with quality, raising alerts and attention points, either to superior or in tools
  • Pilot on demand the delivery of projects managed apart from the evolutive maintenance



3. Key Accountabilities/Duties

  • Develop a strong and trust relationship with Business Units
  • Translate in a common & understandable language the accurate business request from Business Units toward IT teams
  • Ensure that deliveries correspond to the business requests expressed
  • Manage all arbitrations with Business Units on requests and prioritization with regular Business Ranking committees
  • Keep Product Managers aware of Business strategy and involved in arbitration rounds.
  • Liaise with the stakeholders to elaborate the RFP/RFI schedules, to prepare bidder lists, to qualify bidders, to prepare requests for quotation, and conduct evaluations.   
  • Provide regular, timely, effective and efficient reporting to Business Units and IT management
  • Participate in establishing governance, best practices, templates, policies, tools and partnerships to expand and mature these responsibilities
