Cloud FinOps Expert

THE ROLE:

 

Reporting to the FinOps manager, the cloud FinOps expert will be responsible to support, improve and monitor cloud spend across CMA CGM Group.  

He/She will be in contact with the various Cloud entities to promote cost optimization leveraging. 
-    Cloud levers like identification of unused resources, capacity reservation, architecture optimization, …
-    Report & Analysis allowing to track & support optimization identified. 
-    Support cloud spend budget, forecast, actuals management.
-    Prompt analysis of situations and restitution through effective presentations

Tasks and responsibilities will evolve during the different phases of the onboarding; therefore, it is important to be agile in terms of work methodology and be a strong team player.

 


RESPONSIBILITIES:
 

-    Leverage Cloud governance to manage costs optimizations & ensure that stakeholders adhere to relevant FINOPS rules & standards. 
-    Support various stakeholders (application owners, architects, service owners, operations, etc.) in using the FINOPS tools, identifying optimizations, and implementing scalable solutions.
-    Work with the teams at the start of the design to best adjust the cost risk and operational needs.
-    Work with Operations teams to create and implement a tagging and alert strategy for cloud resource billing.
-    Support consumers in understanding their cloud bills based on their business goals and budget.
-    Build and implement cloud financial controls by establishing and tracking cloud consumption at multiple levels of granularity, application types, projects, providers, entities, and services.
-    Be proactive in suggesting technical and contractual optimizations for consumption (rightsizing, start/stop, technology improvement, architecture optimization, non-used instances, volume discounts). 
-    Maintain and evolve the FinOps service catalog, ensuring consolidation, cost tracking and optimization, and visibility of cloud assets. 
-    Help FINOPS Leader to coordinate FINOPS team.
-    Utilizing both Cloud native and third-party cost management toolsets to drive commercial and cost avoidance optimization across Cloud estates.
-    Planning and executing Cloud savings plans, reservations, and commitment-based savings plans.
-    Identifying consumption trends and future capacity needs of engineering teams.
-    Detecting and highlighting anomalies in Cloud usage, working with engineering teams to understand these anomalies.
-    Define, track and report performance indicators for cloud consumptions.



PROFILE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
 

-    Proven experience in Cloud FINOPS management
-    Master cloud services and technologies, especially AWS and Azure. 
-    Extensive experience in cost management on the cloud, including identifying and implementing cost reduction strategies, including third-party and native tools. 
-    Programming and automation skills to automate cost management and monitoring processes. 
-    Ability to work in a multidisciplinary environment and build trusting relationships with different stakeholders. 
-    Work experience in matrix environment in large international organizations would be ideal.
-    Ability to work in a team-oriented environment (with internal and external people) ensuring all key drivers of change are understood and integrated.
-    Fluency in French & English.
-    Project management skills
-    Strong communication skills.
-    Strong problem-solving skills and creativity with the ability to hear everyone’s opinions. 
-    Ability to handle work with a multi-cultural team across geographies.
-    Ethics, integrity and respect for the confidentiality of information.
-    Good synthesis capabilities
