Data Officer Delegate

THE ROLE 

 

The CDO Delegate will be responsible for leading the data strategy for the Shipping Line. This role is crucial in leveraging data as a strategic asset to drive business digital transformation and innovation. He/she will work closely with the various Shipping Line departments, CDOs, IT and other stakeholders to identify data needs, limitations and improvement opportunities. He/she will lead cross-functional teams to drive data initiatives and build data products (MDM, analytics, data science, AI)

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES :

 

Data Strategy and Transformation:

  • Develop and implement a comprehensive data strategy aligned with the Business objectives. Lead Data Transformation to strengthen foundations, develop new capabilities and promote a data-driven culture within the organization. Ensure data is leveraged to improve business performance, reduce costs, and identify optimization opportunities. Collaborate with business stakeholders to understand their data needs and propose suitable solution.
  • Establish clear definitions for data, the associated rules and ownership. Understand how data is used within an organization (both producers and consumers of data). Apply data governance standards to ensure data quality and compliance with regulatory requirements. Implement processes to ensure data quality throughout its lifecycle (from collection to archiving).


Data Management:

  • Oversee the collection, storage, management, and analysis of data across the organization. Ensure the most critical data remains accurate, complete, reliable and fit for purpose, supporting decision-making and operational success.


BI and Data Science:

  • Ensure that BI and Data Science efforts are aligned with the Shipping Line's overall data strategy and business objectives.
  • AI and Innovation:
  • Stay abreast of emerging data technologies and trends. Drive the adoption of AI & innovative data solutions and tools to enhance data capabilities.


Change & Collaboration

  • Work closely with the management and all Business Units across the organization. Serve as the central point of contact for all data-related initiatives within its Business Unit and for management. Educate and raise awareness among business teams about the value of data and its exploitation.
  • Leading data projects:
  • Oversee digital transformation and track the progress of data projects in line with strategic objectives and ensure their delivery within set timelines and budgets. Facilitate data exploration in collaboration with data science and analytics teams to uncover high-value trends and insights. Promote the use of data to optimize assets (e.g., predictive maintenance, asset lifecycle management, operational performance improvement).


Performance Monitoring:

  • Define and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) related to data initiatives. Report on the progress and impact of data strategy to the Business Transformation team and other stakeholders.

 

 

PROFILE AND SKILLS :

 

  • Bachelor's or Master's degree in Data Science, Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in a senior data management role, preferably as a CDO or similar.
  • Strong understanding of data governance, data management, and data analytics.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse teams and stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of industry regulations and compliance related to data.
     

Preferred Skills:

  • Experience with big data technologies and platforms.
  • Proficiency in data visualization tools and techniques.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
