General Accountant - Interco

THE ROLE:

Working for head office and historical shipping company of the Group, the Intercompany team is in charge of interco accounting processes and coordination of operations within the Group.  

Leading the interco process, his/her role is crucial in the quality of the consolidated financial statements.

In a complex and international environment, with more than 500 subsidiaries of various activities, the Interco accountant is expected to analyze and understand the flows between Group entities, based on a good knowledge of the information systems and on daily exchanges with other departments and subsidiaries.

She/he is also asked to be active in proposing process improvement solutions in order to strengthen the quality of the reconciliation process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Within Accounting Department, the Interco accountant participates in defining the Group processes in terms of interco operations and she/he guarantees they are properly applied.
• With the support of Financial Control and shared service centers, she/he coordinates the monthly interco declaration process, according to the Group closing schedule.
• She/he ensures the quality of the declarations and the respect of Group rules.
• The Interco accountant works closely with all accounting teams and Consolidation department. Verifying the quality of the declarations and booking “top conso” corrective entries if needed, she/he has a key role in the closing process.
• Following the recent ERP migration in 2023 and in a view to strengthening our control environment, process improvement will be of most importance in this position.

• Within her/his team, the Interco accountant will participate in:

-formalizing accounting processes
-describing accounting scheme
-defining new tools and reports

• In a highly evolutive environment, the Interco accountant will have to propose and implement improvements both in terms of tools and processes. Hence she/he will work closely with projects/IT teams.

PROFILE AND SKILLS :

• High Degree in Finance/Accounting 
• Interest for information systems and good knowledge of Excel
• Experience of 3-5 years in Accounting, ideally in an international group with complex interco flows
• English : fluent professional level (written and oral)
• Proactive, curious, good interpersonal skills
• Autonomous, open-minded, sense of initiative
