Group Legal Counsel Senior Specialist

YOUR ROLE :

 

The Group Legal Department’s Procurement Contracts and Business Law division is responsible for negotiating strategic procurement and commercial contracts for the CMA CGM Group in the following sectors: Energy, Shipping, Infrastructure, IT and Digital, Communication and Sponsorship, Research and Development, and Intellectual Property.

Reporting to the Head of Procurement Contracts and Business Law within the Group Legal Department, you will be responsible for drafting, reviewing, and negotiating high-value commercial procurement contracts, both in France and internationally, across the Group’s various activities and entities.

 

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO? 

 

As a true business partner to operational teams and the Group Procurement Department, your main responsibilities include:

  • Structuring, drafting, negotiating, and validating all types of commercial contracts in the maritime transport and handling sectors (particularly contracts with shipping lines and the Group’s port terminals, intermodal transport contracts, and maritime agency agreements);

  • Creating, maintaining, and updating a comprehensive contractual database and making it accessible to operational teams;

  • Training and raising awareness among operational teams on legal issues related to their activities;

  • Advising and supporting senior management on innovative projects;

  • More broadly, supporting operational teams and departments in their decision-making processes by identifying and assessing legal risks and providing clear proposals and recommendations.

 

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 

 

  • You hold a solid academic background in Business Law from a French university, ideally complemented by a Common Law degree from abroad (L.L.M. US/UK). You have at least 5 years of experience within a major international industrial group or, preferably, within a leading law firm (as a lawyer or solicitor), with a proven track record in negotiating complex contractual projects or major M&A transactions.
  • You are fluent in both French and English (spoken and written), and have an excellent command of both Civil Law and Common Law. You are also proficient in IT tools.
  • Proactive, curious, and entrepreneurial, you are a source of ideas and initiatives, offering rigorous, pragmatic, and innovative solutions in line with CMA CGM’s contractual requirements.
  • Analytical, meticulous, conscientious, and well-organized, your interpersonal (communication and negotiation) and writing skills enable you to work independently within your areas of responsibility.
  • Your team spirit, solidarity, dynamism, and adaptability are key assets for succeeding in this long-term assignment within a committed and motivated team of 8 professionals.
