Handling Equipment CAPEX Buyer

THE ROLE:

 

Within the Group Purchasing Department, as the Port Handling Equipment Buyer you are in charge of all the steps of the purchasing act. You also are a key player in the continuous improvement of equipment in relation with the prescriber and the main suppliers. You are also in charge of the harmonization of internal processes in your field of expertise, you are involved in the coordination of various stakeholders in order to suggest the most optimized solutions for the Group. 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:


•    Participate to Head Office (HO) Procurement activites for Container Handling Equipment and relay best practices & process from Head Office
•    Communicate and report on actions (KPI, dashboard, action plan) to HO Group Procurement

•    Ensure the proper application of HO defined procurement strategies

•    Evaluate & select the best panel for local & regional needs or for worldwide needs delegated by the HO
•    Challenge, clarify the operational needs and analyze the technical specifications
•    Sourcing the best suppliers for your purchasing family

•    Establish and implement the purchasing strategy according to the categories 
•    Identify risks and opportunities related to suppliers, market,...
•    Consult suppliers

•    Analyze the offers, make TCO simulations in partnership with the technical team
•    Negotiate with suppliers, help for order placement, and potentialy for logistics/supply organization
•    Coordinate the preparation of the contract

•    Actively participate in the cost reduction and transformation plan

•    Follow up and report on progress, performance, scorecards - to management and relevant stakeholders from purchase request to final delivery and aftersales services / warranty management

•    Manage and develop your supplier pool

•    Lead your purchasing eco-system (suppliers and internal customers)

  


PROFILE AND QUALIFICATIONS:

 

•    Master degree in engineering or business with a specialization in purchasing 

•    At least 5 years experience in a senior purchasing position, ideally in the field of container terminals and port equipment

•    A strong level of expertise in negotiation on technical subjects is required

•    Your knowledge of handling, transport and lifting equipment or their manufacturers, would be a real asset 

•    You already have international exposure, and you are fluent in written and spoken English 

•    Your relational and leadership skills will help you to develop strong relationships with all stakeholders 

•    You are result oriented, creative in finding solutions, rigorous and autonomous, flexible and customer orientated

•    You may have to travel for this position
