CMA CGM Group has decided to structure and strengthen its R&D approach by creating a Center of Excellence dedicated to Innovation and Research. The center will increase the company’s capacity for technological and scientific innovation necessary to meet its strategic objectives (decarbonization, digitalization…), while generating profitability and ensure a high visibility on the Group’s commitment to industry’s energy transition. It will rely on strategic industrial and academic partners experts in the maritime industry (laboratories, companies, startups, shipyards, etc.).
YOUR ROLE
Within the Group Purchasing Department, the Senior Indirect Buyer (General Services and Support Functions) manages and coordinates procurement within their area of responsibility, which may include categories such as General Services, Security and Safety, Service Providers, or Human Resources. They are accountable for achieving SQCD (Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery) results in their domain and are capable of managing projects independently. They actively contribute to the continuous improvement of the department by supporting the manager in specific responsibilities (KPIs, Continuous Improvement Initiatives, Communication and Service Promotion, development of the Purchasing scope, etc.).
In addition to managing their portfolio, the Senior Indirect Buyer may assist the Manager in various areas.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
As part of this role, your main responsibilities will include:
- Participating in the development of purchasing strategies based on the company's needs and objectives, in collaboration with internal stakeholders.
- Evaluating and shortlisting the best suppliers for their category.
- Organizing and managing tenders, conducting supplier negotiations, and drafting contracts.
- Contributing to the evolution of the Purchasing Department by taking responsibility for cross-functional initiatives (KPI Management, Continuous Improvement, Communication & Service Promotion, development of the Purchasing scope, etc.).
- Monitoring contracts and subcontracting activities in collaboration with technical specifiers.
- Identifying risks and opportunities related to suppliers, markets, etc.
- Actively participating in cost reduction and transformation plans, particularly by managing supplier relationships and implementing improvement initiatives aimed at optimizing total cost of ownership.
- Contributing to the streamlining, securing, and industrialization of processes, methods, and tools (e.g., SRM) to enhance overall performance.
- Supporting the establishment of a Purchasing culture and ensuring Purchasing is recognized as a true value-creating partner.
- Assisting the Manager with communication, reporting on actions and performance indicators (KPIs), and preparing dashboards for Management and relevant stakeholders.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
- Holding a Master’s degree (e.g., DESMA) or a Bachelor’s degree with significant experience, you have 7 to 10 years of experience in procurement (knowledge of indirect purchasing is a plus).
- Working in an international and multicultural environment, your English proficiency allows you to communicate effectively, both written and verbal, with all stakeholders. You are also skilled in IT and office tools.
- Your interpersonal skills, communication abilities, and leadership make you a high-level negotiator capable of building strong relationships with all stakeholders (internal clients, etc.).
- Strong operational autonomy and initial experience in activity management (KPIs, Cross-functional Improvements), project management, or leadership roles are a plus.
- Results-oriented, you demonstrate innovation in solution-seeking and exhibit a high level of autonomy in managing your daily tasks.
- Agile, curious, and collaborative, you adapt easily to evolving strategies and priorities.
- Finally, your commitment, rigor, autonomy, and proactive approach enable you to respond effectively to various stakeholders' needs.
