YOUR ROLE
Guided by your internship supervisor, you will be responsible for handling litigations (claims) related to damages affecting CMA CGM-owned vessels, as well as illnesses and accidents involving crew members or third parties. Recovering insurance indemnities is a key aspect of your mission.
WHAT WILL YOU DO?
• You will inform operational teams of legal risks in a preventive manner.
• You will assist and advise operational teams on various legal issues.
• You will take necessary precautionary measures in coordination with insurers and technical and Safety/Security managers when a maritime (or other) incident occurs.
• You will initiate warranty claims/actions against various shipyards, suppliers, or service providers for the owned fleet, if necessary.
• You will perform due diligence in cases related to repatriations, bodily injuries, illnesses, or deaths for which the shipowner's liability may be sought.
• You will ensure the defense and follow-up of claims against owned vessels operated by the shipowner and those targeting the crews.
• You will draft legal documents and implement claims against the shipowner's insurers or responsible third parties.
• You will conduct negotiations within the established delegations.
• You will ensure legal monitoring (laws, conventions, etc.), follow case law, and manage legal/judicial cases in coordination with lawyers and insurers.
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
• You are preparing a Master 2 in Maritime Law and/or Transport Law, Insurance Law, or International Trade.
• You are fluent in English, both spoken and written, and proficient in computer and office tools.
• You also have solid knowledge of regulations related to ships and crews.
• Your writing skills are recognized.
