Internship - Data Management Officer

THE ROLE : 

 

You will join the Chartering Department, and more specifically the Operations Department.  

You will be responsible for the operational monitoring of chartered vessels currently in the fleet, with a particular focus on their energy performance and compliance with IMO - GHG (reduction of greenhousegas emissions) and EU ETS (European Emission Trading System) regulations.  

In collaboration with shipowners, commercial lines and the department's and Group's operational teams, you will study the possibilities for improving the absolute and regulatory performance of vessels.  

The measures to be considered will be of a technical or operational nature, and will all be aimed at reducing CO2 emissions in the day-to-day use of the vessel. In this, your mission will effectively contribute to achieving the ambitious goals of the United Nations Organization and the CMA CGM Group to reduce shipping's carbon footprint to Net 0 by 2050. 

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES : 

 

  • Analyze the performance of vessels in the chartered fleet in comparison with the charter contract (330 vessels), vessels of the same design, and regulatory limitations. 
  • Compare the vessels' technical and regulatory performance with the shipowners' objectives/commitments, and project their future development within the applicable regulatory context. 
  • Identify areas for improvement in ship energy/regulatory performance  
  • Prepare presentations/synopses on ship performance/compliance for shipowners/owners. 

 

 

PROFILE AND QUALIFICATIONS :  

 

  • Good mathematical skills, comfortable with analyzing figures/data  
  • Ideally, a background in marine engineering, solid knowledge of merchant ships. 
  • Knowledge of environmental issues related to global warming. 
  • Interest in helping to reduce the shipping industry's carbon footprint.  

 

  • Ideally, you are fluent in English and can write eloquently in English. 
  • Fluency in handling big data. 
  • Mastery of Excel / VBA / Python / others to use and develop analysis, monitoring and reporting tools.
