The Role
Within the Group Purchasing Department, as the Handling Equipment Lead Buyer you are is in charge of all thesteps of the purchasing act. You also are a keyu player in the continuous improvement of equipment in relationwith the prescriber and the main suppliers.
You are also in charge of the harmonization of internal processes in your field of expertise, you are involved in thecoordination of various stakholders in order to suggest the most optimized solutions for the Group.

 

Responsibilities
• Challenge, clarify the needs and analyze the specifications
• Sourcing the best suppliers for your purchasing family
• Establish and implement the purchasing strategy according to the categories
• Identify risks and opportunities related to suppliers, market,...
• Consult suppliers
• Analyze the offers, make TCO simulations
• Negotiate with suppliers, help for order placement, and potentialy for logistics/supply organization
• Coordinate the preparation of the contract
• Actively participate in the cost reduction and transformation plan
• Follow up and report on progress, performance, scorecards - to management and relevant stakeholders
• Manage and develop your supplier pool
• Lead your purchasing eco-system (suppliers and internal customers)
Profile and competencies
• Master degree in engineering or business with a specialization in purchasing
• At least 5 years experience in a senior purchasing position, ideally in the field of container terminals and portequipment
• You have a strong level of expertise in negotiation on technical subjects is required
• Your knowledge of handling, transport and lifting equipment or their manufacturers, as well ascomputerized/automated container terminal management systems would be a real asset
• You already have international exposure, and you are fluent in written and spoken English
• Your relational and leadership skills will help you to develop strong relationships with all stakeholders
• You are result oriented, creative in finding solutions, rigorous and autonomous
• You may have to travel for this position
