It will rely on strategic industrial and academic partners experts in the maritime industry (laboratories, companies, startups, shipyards, etc.).

YOUR ROLE

 

CMA CGM R&D department is developing new tools, processes, and methodologies to improve the vessel design and obtain accurate consumption and emission estimations. These tools can be used by various departments in CMA CGM Group (Newbuilding, Fleet upgrade, RSE) and shall be developed in collaboration with these different stakeholders under CMA CGM R&D department lead.

 


WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?

 

You will work closely with the R&D multidisciplinary team, including naval architects, fuel experts, engine, material and onboard system specialists, and you will in particular oversee:

  • Collection of the team needs for automated tools and design processes
  • Evaluation of the possible technical solutions, and external or internal resources needs
  • Technical specification redaction
  • Tender if external subcontractors are needed
  • Coordination with colleagues and subcontractors to develop the tools and methodologies
  • Development of excel macros or python tools internally
  • Interface with stakeholders to ensure the tools development are suited to the needs
  • Validation of the tools and redaction of user guides
  • Estimation of the improvements brought by each tool (in vessel consumption savings, time saving during design phases, new study possibilities, …)
  • Training of the internal stakeholders for the use of developed tools

 

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?

 

  • Graduated MSC degree in marine engineering (ENSTA, Centrale, Mines, ENSAM…)
  • You have at least 3 years' experience in naval architecture, ship design, ship propulsion, and steel structures.
  • Development skills (VBA / Python / others) would be highly appreciated for this position.
  • You are proactive, organized, and able to work autonomously with minimal supervision, while collaborating with multiple teams.
  • You possess a strong team spirit, and continuous improvement is part of your vision.
  • You have excellent oral and written communication skills, allowing you to engage with all types of stakeholders.
  • You have the ability to work in coordination with external parties, whether partners or subcontractors.
  • The working language is English, and speaking French is a plus.
