R&D Technology & Energy Sub-system Engineer

THE ROLE

 

Withing the R&D ship department, under the supervision of the System on board expert, your mission consists in developing new vessel system architecture based on future fuel. Your scope covers all the systems & components related to future fuel.

 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

More precisely, you:

  1. Conduct a critical assessment of the fuel handling systems including sub-component like compressor or boiler
  2. Identify inefficiencies and sub-optimal set-up in regards of CMA CGM emission reduction roadmap
  3. Perform studies related to the usage of low-carbon methanol, ammoniac or hydrogen used as fuels like gas dispersion, risk assessment or simple operation
  4. Follow of recommendations from HAZID & HAZOP workshop
  5. Assistance to new building department or Fleet upgrade department regarding topics linked with Alternative fuel
  6. Assist SSE dept in the understanding of future fuel
  7. Work in coordination with the ship’s concept team
  8. Propose integration plan or such new equipment and technology onboard CMA CGM’s vessel.

 

You are part of a team where you will be alternatively a project leader or a project contributor. As a project leader you must be able to:

  1. Handle a project from ideation phase / scratch up to the feasibility phase
  2. Realize an operational and safe arrangement based on the innovative sub-system you work on
  3. Organize and follow-up the projects activities (dedicated meetings, specific projects follow-up files, planning, tendering for engineering studies, pilot subcontractors, write specifications, review technical deliverables, manage class approval…)
  4. Identify and implement a risk management methodology
  5. Deliver periodical reporting
  6. Provide support to Management in controlling the various costs associated to the Projects.

 

 

PROFILE & COMPETENCIES

 

  • Naval architect with strong experience in ship sub-sytems (typically engine room) or generalist engineer knowing physical process and their application in industrial technology
  • 5 years experience in Oil & Gas industry or maritime, with exposure to industrial process at international level within multicultural environment
  • Experience in Digital, Electrical Architecture, Power Management system and Communication process between various software
  • Fluent in English, French is appreciated
  • You are rigorous, methodic and autonomous, with a collaborative and team-building attitude
  • Excellent analytic and synthesis skills, goodpresentation and organization, communication skills (verbal, written and listening), ability to work with all levels of staff and across diverse business areas.
