Terminals Project Implementation Manager

It will rely on strategic industrial and academic partners experts in the maritime industry (laboratories, companies, startups, shipyards, etc.).

 

CMA Terminals owns and operates container terminals and inland asset-owning logistics businesses globally. We are increasing our portfolio and strengthening our capabilities in the Develop and Implement areas at our Head Office.

 

 

 

YOUR ROLE

 

As Project Implementation Manager, you will report to the Head of global port infrastructure and take charge of the portfolio of asset investment projects that have been secured and bring the intended business plan to life by laying out the implementation plan and building the on-site teams to take charge of implementation. You will oversee the implementation of all ongoing projects and you will own the process and best practice for how we as a company implement projects.

 

The role will oversee technical aspects of implementation by liaising with our technical functions for e.g. infrastructure, equipment and IT and where relevant will oversee the organizational build up, partner/stakeholder engagement and commercial planning for the businesses we are building. Success in this role is successful implementation and operational launch of projects with an increasingly strengthened process and capacity of the company to mitigate risk and improve project delivery. Our portfolio of projects includes large greenfield terminals, brownfield, M&A, inland terminals, and major expansions and improvements at existing facilities.

 

 

 

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?

 

  • You will be responsible for the budget, time-schedule, scope and objectives of all projects under implementation. You will liaise with Business Development teams to identify new project deals with a view to their subsequent implementation in advance of taking charge. And you will hold responsibility for the projects until these are concluded and declared in commercial operations. Similarly, you will liaise with the existing asset CEO’s to ensure the improvements at their sites deliver the results the business plan envisioned.
  • You will maintain a head-office overview and reporting on all upcoming and ongoing implementation projects with particular focus on implementation planning and resourcing from head-office functions and in time local teams.
  • Throughout the implementation phase of each project, steer and guide internal functions (technical, finance, legal a.o.) to drive the projects forward with an integrated plan to deliver on the objectives of the business plan.
  • Identify and proactively manage internal and external dependencies which can impact the implementation projects.
  • Ensure adequate governance is in place and adhered to throughout the projects as interim approvals are required and as changes appear from unforeseen circumstances or as opportunities to optimize are identified.
  • Actively oversee a risk management process for each project to highlight risk and identify/implement mitigations.
  • For large scale projects, act as interim Project Director / CEO until the appointment of this person is completed following which you will act as mentor and support for the appointed leader on the ground.
  • Support and oversee the build-up of the local organization which for greenfield projects also include safety, operations, finance, HR, commercial a.o.
  • Further develop, maintain and champion our overall Project Framework for how we implement projects globally.

 

 

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?

 

  • Minimum 10 years’ experience in senior management roles within container terminal development or operations
  • Management level experience with implementing high capex infrastructure and equipment programs from procurement to physical installation and commissioning
  • Experience in building multi-cultural teams including planning and recruitment
  • Ability to manage stakeholders across cultures
  • Strong leadership profile with ability to aligned functions and resource towards a common plan, also when these are not direct reporting lines
  • Maintain a holistic view of projects with ability to dive deep is specific areas when required
  • Analytical by nature, strong planning skills
  • Able to engage with both top management and technical subject matter experts alike
  • Politically agile, strong communicator, handling interpersonal conflicts constructively.
  • Native or fluent in English and French considered an advantage
  • Ability to travel widely with minimal visa restrictions
  • The position is based in Marseille, France and will involve travel activity.
