Sr. Analyst, Motor Carrier Sourcing

Position Summary:

 

This position will be responsible for the overall analytical research and development of tools to assist in achieving the group goals.  As a senior procurement analyst, he/she will spend a great deal of time developing approaches for procuring and contracting external support from the open marketplace in line with industry standards. This involves gathering information via supplier databases and other sources, vetting candidates to make a final selection, negotiating and delivering an award and tracking, as well as assessing performance, throughout the contract term.

 

This position will be responsible to:

 

  • Gather market research/data and conduct qualitative and quantitative analysis to develop sourcing strategies and provide recommendations to Management.
  • Perform detailed analytics on cost data to drive cost leadership.
  • Analyze industry trends and conditions that affect internal stakeholders and external suppliers and/or pricing.
  • Lead data collection to support negotiations and drive cost visibility
  • Assist in the preparation of data/documentation required to insure successful negotiations with transportation supplies.
  • Ensure all necessary systems are maintained and properly updated on a regular basis.  Provide HO with uploaded pricing tools weekly.
  • Ensure compliance with Sourcing and Procurement policies and best practices.
  • Meet with and hold conference calls with new and current-existing vendors to discuss service concerns or onboard as house carriers in order to achieve cost-savings for the agency.
  • Provide pricing to Internal customers as needed.
  • Review internal processes and policies and provide recommendations for improvement.

 

Skill Sets / Education & Experience Requirements:

  • High School
  • 4-6 years of industry experience required.
  • Superior research and analytic abilities
  • Expertise in inland drayage operations and logistics network required
  • Expertise in international container business is required
  • Ability to productively interact with all internal and external customers requiring information regarding drayage issues and costs.
  • Advanced skills in Excel, Word, Outlook, Access and Power Point presentation.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Ability to analyze cost data to reach best cost solution
  • Strong communication and presentation skills -communicating various levels of detail appropriate to the audience. Able to take complex information and issues and present it in a simple but clear way.

 

Skill Sets / Education & Experience Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.
