YOUR ROLE

 

This position reports to the Cluster-Chief Commercial Officer and is based in Port-Louis, Mauritius.

The business developer role is a key function in the sales organization responsible for analysis of market data to identify business opportunities. As such, the duty of the business developer is to establish strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders (including customers) to enable him/her to gain a good understanding of the dynamics of the market.

The business developer is also expected to play an integral role in business development projects in the agencies by preparing business plans for new initiatives and following up on existing projects.

 


WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

 

  • Market analysis aiming at establishing the market size and CMA CGM market share
  • Understand overall business of the customer to be able to come across other business opportunities to up-sell or cross sell other CMA CGM Products and grow share of wallet.
  • Competition analysis for benchmarking purposes and channeling back to the organization valuable market intelligence information regarding the business. 
  • Work with the Reefer Sales Manager to develop the reefer portfolio and to implement strategies for product diversification. 
  • Follow up the overall performance per agency.
  • Perform market studies to identify new business opportunities for CMA CGM and to bring on board new business within the corridor. 
  • Participate in commercial meetings in the agency. Share CMA CGM performance and relevant market information in these meeting.
  • Periodic Performance Reporting in the agency as required by different teams: Sales, Local Managements, DRO and HO.
  • Organize and attend events to promote CMA CGM group focusing on both maritime and non-maritime products
  • Drive business development projects within the cluster especially the Inland projects. Prepare elaborate business plan.
  • Be in close contact with local authorities to follow up files submitted to seek approval in regard of business development project
  • Promote CMA CGM Support Group Services and Non-Maritime products (e-commerce, VAS, intermodal, CEVA)
  • Coordination HO/RO, Lines & Agency on Maritime Services 
  • Prioritize Lines’ instructions to Commercial Manager and Sales Reps
  • Support the South Corridor sales manager in co-ordinating activities within the sales team.

 


WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

 

  • First degree in any business-related course, post graduate qualification preferred.
  • Excellent data analysis and diagnostic capabilities. 
  • Be familiar and constantly up to date with the latest global and regional maritime trade developments, changing market environments and competitors updates as far as perishable and reefer businesses are concerned
  • Familiar with MS Outlook, MS Project or other project and time management software applications.
  • Excellent analytical, presentation, follow up, decision-making, problem-solving, interpersonal, negotiation, conflict-management and time-management skills.
  • Excellent communication (verbal and written) skills to technical and non-technical audiences of various levels in the organization; ability to explain technical features to non-technical audiences and vice-versa.
  • Not afraid of changes, flexible and adaptable.
  • Ability to work in an international environment.
  • Cultural awareness, sensitivity to culture and customs.
  • Ability to travel abroad on assignments.
