Business Development Manager (ISC)

In this role, you will be responsible to assist and provide support to Asia-India Subcontinent (ISC) line management team in overall operational and business performance review to manage and oversee service’s vessel deployment, to provide solutions and/or suggestions for service enhancement as well as to prepare Line financial forecasting & budgeting. 

 

We are looking for someone with strong market knowledge on Asia-ISC service setup, vessel line up planning and deployment on each operated service, cargo mix/profile, internal BL costing, and line P&L preparation. 

 

Your main responsibilities are, but not limited to:

  • Monitor operational and business performance of the line to ensure Line monthly P&L is maximized.
  • Ensure ISC Line operated service’s vessel deployment is well planned under the limited group resources, in which the deployment plan fits business needs.
  • Perform monthly result review and highlight findings for improvement.
  • Handle service exceptions and execute cargo recovery planning for any void sailing, port omission, schedule delay or any other operational issues
  • Monitor and track competitor activities in the ISC market to spot and analyze market trends in order to ensure the trade strategy is aligned with market activities
  • Collaborate closely with ISC commercial team and cargo flow team to understand market situation & CMA weekly utilization performance, and provide suggestions to maximize revenue
  • Collaborate with HO feet department to express ISC line needs and find solution actively to improve vessel deployment on ISC line 
  • Monitor closely with operation team and cargo flow team for any operational issues and provides suggestions to minimize the BL related cost i.e. transshipment cost
  • Collaborate with business control, commercial team, cargo flow team to review monthly performance and suggest areas of improvement in monthly result such as cargo mix, variable costs to ensure maximum yield and provide trade directions for cargo acceptance per local/vessel operational constraints
  • Provide insights to line management for upcoming financial performance, prepare and review monthly financial result forecast and budget
  • Prepare regular market studies, monthly market share reports, weekly market supply/demand trends and competitor/market analysis
  • Analyse current market trend versus vessel deployment plan and perform P&L estimation for different scenarios

 
To excel in this role, you should possess profound understanding of ISC line strategy to maximize line’s profitability while balancing each stakeholder’s interests and strong data analytical skills with innovative solutions for the daily tasks, good interpersonal skills to express, explain, and convince their findings and suggestions.

 

Minimum Requirements:

  • Degree in Maritime Studies, Supply Chain or equivalent 
  • Preferably 5 years of working experience in the container shipping industry
  • Advance proficiency in Excel i.e. Vlookup and Pivot table
  • Experience in Planning function will be advantageous i.e. cargo mix
