Senior Trade Executive (Project Cargo)

Summary:

This role reports to the Asia Regional Head for the group’s Project Cargo team. You will have an excellent opportunity to play a critical part in developing the niche market of Project Cargo, out-of-gauge (OOG) and breakbulk (BB) business growth in Asia Region by catering to the target volume & revenue increase through pricing and commercial development for assigned TRADE/BRAND in the group.

 

Your key responsibilities include, but not limited to: 

 

Commercial (Trade & pricing) - 70%

  • Providing timely pricing response to customers for OOG/Breakbulk.
  • Proactively seek sales opportunities to be invited for bids/tender businesses 
  • Be involved with respective Trade Managers for the commercial development of OOG/Breakbulk services, take part in business development activities such as Sales Calls, Customer visits & marketing tactics. 
  • Coordinating with line/trade management for setting up pricing policies. & establish and maintain cost database for effective pricing
  • To establish and maintain a market awareness, competitive pricing and to stay abreast of relevant market and price development for the targeted business segment within geographical scope of assigned trade/region
  • Be aware and provide proper business follow up for feedback on competitions (conventional, RoRo & container carriers)
  • To animate the sales team for more business opportunities by focusing project cargo customers.

 

Operational – 30% 

  • Coordinate with agencies & back office functions (CS/Booking Desks/SSC) for smooth booking/acceptances on partner vessels as well as all parties across the organization to facilitate the smooth handling of all OOG/BBK cargoes, from pricing approval to loading and discharging the shipment
  • To develop and maintain a standard global process in the handling of Project cargoes, (OOG & Breakbulk) working closely with vessel operations department (Vessel Planners/Operations managers) cargo flow for space management.
  • Assessing the operational feasibility with local operation teams, terminals & vendors involved.
  • Coordinating with respective port pairs/terminals & vendors if any special handling materials & cranes required to be hired.

 

This exciting and dynamic role is suitable for someone who has an inquisitive and commercial mind, with a strong drive to promote the Project Cargo services within the conventional container shipping industry. 

 

Minimum requirement: 

  • Diploma and/or Degree from a reputable institution
  • At least 5 years of experience in the container industry, specifically in Pricing / Trade / Terminal Operations / Operations. Experience with Project Cargo, OOG and Breakbulk cargoes are highly preferred. 
  • Proficient in Excel (Vlookup & Pivot Table) 
  • Excellent communication skill (written and verbal)
