THE ROLE
In a fast-moving and international shipmanagement environment, the role contributes to CMA SHIPS operational excellence by driving a structured and sustainable continuous improvement approach.
The mission is to identify and prioritize improvement opportunities, lead cross-functional initiatives, and support teams in applying consistent Lean and problem-solving methodologies.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?
As per company standards, you shall:
- Comply with IMS and all relevant international rules and regulations;
- Ensure all your duties in accordance with quality, health, safety, environmental and ethics policies;
- Propose a continuous performance improvement plan which will be reported and reviewed on a periodical basis;
- Continuous improvement plan
- Identify, assess and propose prioritization of improvement opportunities which can arise from process reviews, audits, non-conformities, incidents, near-misses, PSC, investigations, vetting observations and operational feedback;
- Maintain and monitor the continuous improvement initiatives;
- Track progress, report outcomes and ensure improvements are sustained over time.
- Lead selected improvement projects while supporting teams in delivering their own initiatives.
- Facilitate cross-functional workshops, coordinate stakeholders;
- Consolidate continuous improvement indicators and report trends, risks and recommendations
- Methods and knowledge sharing
- Standardize feedbacks management tools and methods; Ensure that we learn from experience.
- Support and coach the different departments in strengthening root cause and problem-solving methods;
- Ensure the correct application of those techniques;
- Conduct review meetings on a regular basis;
- Define, monitor and communicate on associated indicators;
- Identify cross-fleet trends and recurring issues;
- Develop and encourage sharing of good practices and lessons learned across the fleet and shore departments;
- Internal audit
- Take part in the internal audit programme
WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?
- Master’s degree in engineering or maritime studies or quality, or equivalent experience as a seagoing officer or superintendent with a specialization on continuous improvement;
- Effective verbal, written and presentation skills in English
- Expertise on continuous improvement tools (LEAN, RCA, Failure Mode Effect Analysis)
- Internal auditor qualification (ISO / ISM)
- At least 5 years of relevant experience in continuous improvement, operational excellence, process improvement including a significant part in a regulated operational environment;
- Maritime experience preferred (shipmanagement, onboard or technical/marine superintendence).
- Successful Proven experience in facilitating workshops and managing transversal project without hierarchical authority;
- Ability to translate data into clear recommendations and decisions;
