Fleet Manager (f/m/d)

 

Created on January 1st 2008, CMA Ships is a fully-owned subsidiary of CMA CGM with the objective to manage all fleet related operations.
CMA Ships is ISO 9001 and ISO 14001 certified and operates under various flags’ Documents of Compliance (DOC).

A team of more than 4,700 seafarers of all nationalities including more than 300 cadets are working at sea and ashore. It includes a Marine Human Resources Department to accompany the seafarers, a fleet management department with more than 40 superintendents ashore, a dedicated department supervising the ship-buildings, the development of IT systems and working on energy issues and innovation with engine experts, a dedicated Purchasing department, a specialized team to organize the vessel dry docks as well as a team of experts to run the Fleet Navigation and Support Center to monitor the CMA CGM fleet 24/24.

For the CMA Ships Germany entity in Hamburg we are recruiting a Fleet Manager (f/m/d)

 

 

 

Your responsibilities: 

 

You shall: 

 

  • Comply with IMS and all relevant international rules and regulations; 
  • Ensure all your duties in accordance with quality, health, safety, environmental and ethics policies; 
  • Propose a continuous performance improvement plan which will be reported and reviewed on a periodical basis. 

 

Team management:

 

  • Manage your team to ensure its efficiency; 
  • Identify training requirements for your team;  
  • Encourage your team to improve their knowledge, skills and training; 
  • Set up and ensure continued operation, reporting, briefings and meetings when relevant. 

 

Vessels follow up 

 

  • Monitor the vessels performance, shipboard maintenance and repair programs, dry docking, deficiencies, class and flag surveys and ensure that these are completed within the required time;  
  • Coordinate the preparation and participate to the review and approval of the dry-docking specifications and any other major repair works prior to tendering; 
  • Liaise with New Building Department to prepare taking over of newly built vessels; 
  • Liaise with CMA ships management to prepare taking over/hand over of second-hand vessel, purchased or sold; 
  • Support the crew on board for their duties; 
  • Validate root cause analysis and preventive measures for identified events; 
  • Assist in any emergency response as required. 

 

Budget management 

 

  • Monitor operating costs of the vessels to ensure expenses are kept within budget and optimized; 
  • Approve orders, invoices up to limit of authorization; 
  • Prepare and review the annual vessel operating budgets with the Fleet Director, prior to sending to owners. Note: You are accountable for the profit and loss of your fleet. 

 

Coordination with Fleet management 

 

  • Keep the Fleet Director advised of problems which arise on managed ships; 
  • Coordinate with Line management to meet operational requirements; 
  • Ensure communication of information and feed backs to other fleets and departments; 
  • Ensure that weekly report is updated by the SI. 

 

You bring aboard:

 

  • Experience as a Superintendent preferred
  • Experience in Deep sea CE with slow speed propulsion preferred
  • Adequate knowledge of the vessel and vessel systems
  • Competent with various softwares, such as word, excel, powerpoint, etc

  • Analytical skills
  • Result oriented
  • Effective verbal, written and presentation skills
  • Ability to work both independently and in a team-based environment
  • Demonstrated willingness to be flexible to change priorities
  • Strong multi-tasking and organizational skills
  • Management skills
