Customs Manager (m/f/d)

For the Containerships head office in Hamburg we are recruiting a Customs Manager (m/f/d)


Your responsibilities include:

  • Maintenance and updating of customs permits (e.g. AEO and permits for simplified customs procedures)
  • Control of customs tasks in the head office and the subsidiaries
  • Preparation and monitoring of customs controls / audits
  • Optimization and further development of customs processes
  • Representation towards the customs authorities, e.g. handling of fine procedures
  • Contact person for internal customs issues of all kinds
  • Function as a link between Containerships, customs authorities and third-party providers in customs matters 
  • Management of Containerships' activities to comply with economic sanctions
  • Conduct/monitor customer and cargo compliance screenings, including documentation and archiving
  • Management and support of service providers for customs and economic sanctions-related services
  • Monthly reporting on ongoing customs procedures and economic sanctions compliance activities
  • Conducted customs, economic sanctions and AEO security training for employees
  • Ensuring the latest standards and developments in the area of ​​customs and foreign trade law in guidelines, work instructions and processes
  • Participation in customs and economic sanctions training and networking events


You bring aboard:

  • Successfully completed logistics-related training / studies in business administration, law (commercial law), logistics or a comparable subject

  • Proof of at least two and a half to three years of practical and professional qualifications in the field of customs

  • Experience in the field of authorizations for simplified customs procedures (RSS, TC12, ETD) and AEO authorisation

  • Strong theoretical and practical knowledge in the area of customs and foreign trade law

  • Practical experience in the area of internal compliance and monitoring of economic sanctions and trade restrictions

  • Fluent in written and spoken German and English

  • Good MS Office skills

  • Personal initiative and commitment as well as a structured, independent and reliable way of working

  • Strong communication skills, confident demeanor and a great sense of responsibility
