YOUR ROLE

At Ceva Lead Logistics, we are providing customers with outstanding Visibility and Control across their entire Supply Chain. Our operations experts located across the globe in our Control Towers provide services around Supplier and Order Management, Transport Planning and Monitoring, as well as managing performance and freight cost.

 

Based in one of the CEVA Lead Logistics’ regional Control Towers in North America and reporting to the regional Head of Ceva Lead Logistics, the CLL Control Tower Manager will lead and oversee all operational activities within the CEVA Lead Logistics Control Tower.

 

This role ensures operational services are executed in an effective and efficient manner by the different operational teams, while maintaining a high level of quality and meeting performance and cost targets.

 

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

Operations Management

  • Overall responsible for all activities in one of the regional CLL Control Towers
  • Ensure compliance and adherence of all Control Tower Teams with established and agreed processes and customer work standards (SOPs)
  • Overall responsible and accountable for the fulfilment of agreed internal and customer quality metrics and KPIs, with the aim to achieve high-quality service delivery to CLL’s customers
  • Constantly monitor and improve team productivity to ensure profitability of all operational accounts
  • Act as senior management counterpart and ultimate escalation point for Control Tower Operations towards other CLL management stakeholders as well as CLL customers

Team and People Management

  • Management of the CLL Control Tower team, ensuring adherence of all operational teams to CEVA’s values and policies. Direct reports include Operations Managers as well as other CLL support functions
  • Management of team performance through monitoring of internal KPIs, including productivity and labour performance
  • Responsible for adequate staffing levels and professional development of team members, including training / development plans and succession planning
  • Oversee resource needs and liaise with regional and global HR teams on recruiting and onboarding process for new hires

P&L and Contract Management:

  • Manage the Control Tower P&L to ensure profitability vs. operational cost across all account teams
  • Ensure that all provided operational services are billed in a timely and correct manger. Continuously monitor Control Tower KPIs to identify scope creep and fluctuations in volume that could impact profitability. Address and resolve issues in close collaboration with contract management functions.
  • Provide input to contract management and regional head of operations for budget and recurring forecast exercises.
  • Manage regular exchanges with CLL Contract Managers on business strategy and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of customer account roadmaps in cooperation with CLL regional heads, contract management and business development.

Control Tower Governance:

  • Ensure that all applicable company policies are communicated and adhered to by all control tower staff.
  • Actively initiate, support and supervise performance action plans in the Control Towers in close relation with BPE functions.
  • Manage and oversee successful rollout of new customer implementations in the control tower by ensuring operational procedures are defined, documented (SOP, WI), trained and signed off by all operational stakeholders. Ensure participation of operational stakeholders in project work in close alignment with project teams. Actively contribute to project reviews and project steering board meetings. Act as the escalation contact for the project manager in case of issues with operational implementations.

Other duties:

  • Support cross-customer improvement projects in collaboration with Contract Managers and / or Business Process Excellence teams
  • Support regional business development activities, e.g. by supporting workshops with prospective clients, on-site visits or customer presentations
  • Drive regular exchanges between Operations Managers to establish knowledge sharing and use of best practices across various customer accounts
  • Maintain regular exchanges with management teams in other CLL Control Towers, ensure that global initiatives are rolled out consistently across regional Control Towers
  • Identify and address areas of improvement within the CLL service and systems landscape. Liaise with other CLL management functions to constantly enhance CLL’s operational service offering.
  • Manage other projects as assigned by Regional Head of Operations

 

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

 

Education & Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in Logistics, 3PL, Transportation or Supply Chain Management or related field, or comparable work experience
  • Preferred: Six Sigma green belt, Project Management certification etc.

 

 

 

Experience

  • Minimum 10 years of experience in freight forwarding operations, or related industry experience (supply chain, warehousing, distribution)
  • Minimum 5 years of experience in managing larger cross-functional / cross-customer operational teams.
  • Solid understanding of the principles of managing a P&L

Preferred Experience

  • In-depth logistics / forwarding experience in one or multiple of the following industry sectors: Automotive, Aerospace, Pharma / Healthcare, High-tech or consumer
  • Experience with working in a LLP / 4PL Control Tower environment desirable

 

Specialist Knowledge & Skills

  • Good user knowledge of MS Office
  • Experience with logistics software and tools (TMS, WMS, ERP or similar) on an end-user level
  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to motivate, coordinate and support on-site as well as virtual teams
  • Highly interested to grow the team’s performance with the commitment to drive initiatives to deliver high quality operational services
  • Ability to adapt communication to stakeholders of all levels, from operational staff to senior management levels
  • Fluency in English (written and spoken) is mandatory, good conversation skills in Spanish
  • Open to work in a multi-cultural and multi-lingual team, willingness to travel up to 15% of working time (e.g. for customer meetings or to visit off-site operations)

 

Preferred Skills

  • Experience with BI / reporting tools (Tableau, Qlik, Business Objects, Power BI) on an end-user level
  • Knowledge of additional (regional) languages (written and spoken) desirable (as per local / customer requirements)
  • Existing international / intercultural work experience
