YOUR ROLE
The Liability Claim Manager is responsible for the oversight and positive performance of the company’s Third Party Administrator (TPA) and external counsel as they adjust, manage and administer our liability claims portfolio to include Auto Liability (and related auto exposures), and General Liability claims presented against the company.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Ensure compliance with service instructions
- Regular data gathering and intelligence reporting on relevant claims KPI’s including, but not limited to, financials and claims metrics
- Review claim reserves to ensure accuracy
- Direction of TPA adjustment process through litigation and settlement as necessary
- Finance
- Communicate all loss reserves to Finance team to ensure adequate accruals are recorded.
- Obtain internal settlement approvals as required before offers are made to claimants.
- Appointment and management of external counsel as required to represent the company
- Review of actuarial data for forecasting and budgetary needs and monitoring for trends and changes
- Creation of improved workflows and processes to enable Risk Management and field representatives to effectively report incidents and ensure delivery to the TPA
- Analysis of monthly and quarterly reporting derived from Captive and RRG activities
- Conduct and as needed, create cost reduction/mitigation initiatives that are quantifiable and measurable
- Prepare and present reports for Executive Management
- Utilize and/or establish metrics, analytics and benchmarking through multiple sources to establish loss trends and claim costs that prioritize resources and steps needed to improve the claim experience
- Prepare and direct claim file reviews and claim file audits.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Knowledge, Experience & Skills:
- High School Diploma or GED
- 4 year degree required
- All Lines adjuster license
- Minimum 5 years experience in claims handling, principally in liability lines of business.
- Extensive experience in managing a TPA, or career experience as a senior-level adjuster within a TPA.
- High level of proficiency in Microsoft Office Products
- Demonstrated success in managing litigation and claims negotiation in both property damage and bodily injury claims
- Capability to effect change in processes and workflows with successful documentation of procedures to streamline the claims handling process.
- Strong understanding of actuarial activities that drive forecasting and budgeting in a collaborative way with finance department stakeholders
- Proficient in data gathering, analytics, measurement and reporting and using the data and metrics to drive improvement
- Ability to work cross-functionally and establish credibility to successfully execute program requirements
- Used to collaborating with senior executives
- Concise, precise, clear and professional communication skills (both oral and written)
- Able to foster strategic partnerships with internal stakeholders, brokers, TPA and external counsel.
- Strong interpersonal and time management skills
- Autonomous, attention to details, and team player
- Fluent in English
