YOUR ROLE
Directs the development and implementation of solutions design, proposals and cost models for sales. Responsibilities may include developing and implementing model and proposal strategies that support the company’s market philosophy, leading the transfer to commercialization, serving as a liaison to other product groups, and administering the department budget.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Directs the management of staff to include recruiting, hiring, training and developing staff and outlining and addressing performance.
- Directs the development, implementation, and administration of solutions design and related engineering and sales programs for the group which includes determining scope and objectives, ensuring administrative compliance, and implementing guidelines and policies.
- Directs the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure compliance with applicable laws, rules, and regulations.
- Oversees or analyzes the solutions design process to identify opportunities, product, model and service enhancements and target proposals and approaches to customers.
- Monitors the integration of the solutions design process with sales, which includes products, models and responses, identifies improvements and efficiencies, and continues to strengthen pipeline or operations.
- Ensures staff and resources are efficient and effective to achieve desired response and win rate; interacts and assists with closing critical accounts or resolve problems.
- Conducts meetings and develops communications to provide feedback to teams on response and proposal levels, pricing, market feedback, operational needs and financial results to integrate into operations.
- Monitors cost model and operational results and financials within groups, identifies trends and relationships, and communicates information to improve business decisions for growth and profitability.
- Establishes relationships and collaboration with executives of internal and external customers, understands areas of service and proposal needs and leverages communications.
- Manages or oversees communication with sales, brokerage, design, operations and regions to ensure customer needs, operational requirements, pricing and related services are handed off and delivered.
- Assists leaders and sales in developing customer relationships, which may include customer meetings, developing outreach approaches and ensuring other channels for feedback; ensures relationships are strong and intervenes when necessary.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education and Experience:
- High School Diploma or GED; Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Supply Chain Management, Engineering or a related field required or equivalent education and experience. MBA or related Master’s Degree.
- Typically at least twelve years of progressive experience, including five years of progressive managerial experience.
Skills:
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.
- Understanding of the development and implementation of strategic solutions design, modeling and product initiatives that achieved business success in a similar global environment.
- Application of business planning methodologies, competitive analysis, and strategy development.
- Demonstrated success in leading, supervising, managing and developing individuals and high performance teams.
- Thorough understanding of solutions design, engineering and related supply chain requirements.
- Excellent planning, time management, collaboration, decision making, organization, presentation and negotiating skills.
- Application of creative and value added sales communications programs.
- Proficient in project management methodologies with a focus on implementing plans to achieve goals.
- Knowledge of relevant sector vertical markets.
- Demonstrated skills in organization group process, problem identification and resolution at both a strategic and functional level.
- Understanding of global markets and commercial products.
- Experience with, or ability to understand commercial implications of solutions proposed, potential areas of risk and methods to limit liabilities.
- Application of financial management (P&L, balance sheets, forecasting and budgets) to ensure return on investment.
- Skilled in collaborative management and motivational techniques.
- Facilitating meetings and delivering communications.
Travel Requirements:
- Travel is required 10% of the time in this position. Travel identified is primarily domestic (within the United States).
