YOUR ROLE

 

The Logistics Engineer in our Ground Transport division provides comprehensive support to both internal and external stakeholders and customers across commercial activities within the Business Development and Ground Transport business lines. The primary focus is on fostering business development for both new and existing customers. 

The role facilitates new business growth and enhanced optimisation within existing customer contracts through process design and re-engineering. By developing strategic plans, refining processes, implementing efficient systems, best practices, clear reporting mechanisms, and adopting a structured project approach, this role has a substantial impact across all operations within Ground Transport.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

Specifically, you will:

•    Design, organise, improve, and implement solutions for different business sectors (consumer and retail, automotive, etc) to fit the needs of internal and external customers and to optimise the use and efficiency of workforce and resources. 
•    Calculate the resource requirements (e.g. analysing workforce utilisation, mechanical handling equipment, transport fleets and optimisation, etc.) to physically perform a proposed solution.
•    Analyse workforce utilisation, vehicle utilisation, vehicle fleet optimisation, production schedules and costs to determine optimum labour and equipment / vehicle efficiencies to provide an efficient solution for contract renewals.
•    Apply LEAN concepts, tools and knowledge (e.g. 5S, vehicle scheduling tool, value streaming mapping, KAIZEN) to drive process improvement initiatives, resources calculation and output validation throughout solution development process. 
•    Determine solutions based on equipment specifications, developing material flows, vehicle fleet management, technology applications, alternative designs / methodology to develop and create optimal solution to meet customers’ business goals.
•    Engage with customers, internal stakeholders, and managers to understand, develop, present, and recommend value added supply chain solutions.
•    Identify synergies within CEVA operations to maximise utilisation of resources, equipment / assets as well as productivity margins based on company strategy and targets.
•    Design equipment/vehicles, resources and layout using AUTOCAD and other modelling software to provide an optimum solution, and consider alternative solutions to develop a recommendation to solve urgent and complex problems.
•    Conduct financial impact (cost benefit) analysis for proposed initiatives, quantify savings projections and together with intangible benefit. 
•    Deliver project improvement with focus on operations re-engineering, driving efficiency through process change, by redesigning and implementing operational change, redefining MHE needs as applicable, carrying out time studies, benchmarking against similar contracts within the transport industry.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 

Our ideal candidate has a relevant tertiary level qualification in engineering together with experienced gained in transport operations and:

•    Minimum 3 years’ experience in transport operations and/or consultancy background
•    Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
•    Knowledge of TMS, billing system or similar
•    Strong IT background/knowledge preferable
•    Able to manipulate large volumes of data to summarise and interpret
•    Competent understanding of an accounting/GL system, ie. SAP, JD Edwards
•    Ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from multinational and diverse backgrounds
•    Explain complicated financial information to non-financial audiences 
•    Ability to read, analyse, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations 
•    Ability to write reports, business correspondence, procedure manuals, business cases and CapEx submissions
•    Verbal and written communication skills are critical success factors of this role
•    Excellent planning, time management, collaboration, decision making, organisation, presentation and negotiating skills
•    Strong commercial and business acumen, and accuracy / attention to detail
•    Applied knowledge / understanding of transport regulations and compliance standards in Australia
•    Proficiency in transport management systems and route optimisation tools and intermediate ability in MS Office (esp. Excel)
•    Budgeting and cost management skills
•    Excellent communication, presentation, influencing and stakeholder management skills.
