Transport Coordinator | Tullamarine VIC

YOUR ROLE


The Transport Coordinator plays a key role in ensuring the safe, efficient, and cost-effective coordination of transport services at our automotive customer’s site in Tullamarine. You will be responsible for delivering high-quality customer service, overseeing day-to-day dispatch and transport functions, and working closely with both the customer and internal stakeholders to ensure operations run smoothly and on time.


WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?


Specifically, you will:
 

 

  • Ensure compliance with Chain of Responsibility (CoR) Legislation, Material Safety Data Sheets (MSDS), and other relevant standards and regulations
  • Identify and address safety issues proactively, and conduct monthly compliance audits on transport providers
  • Collaborate with the warehouse team to ensure packaging is fit for transport and implement initiatives to eliminate transit damage caused by insufficient packaging
  • Monitor daily freight volumes and liaise with transport suppliers to ensure adequate vehicle capacity is available to meet delivery requirements. Organise additional transport as required
  • Manage transport suppliers and subcontractors, ensuring adherence to scheduled arrival and departure times
  • Investigate service failures, damage, shortages, overages, or incorrect deliveries. Implement corrective actions to prevent recurrence
  • Oversee all open transport issues and ensure they are resolved within the KPI timeframes specified in contract agreements
  • Manage the transport network, recommending and implementing cost reduction initiatives where appropriate
  • Attend and contribute to transport provider KPI meetings, operational reviews, and safety toolbox meetings
  • Oversee the loading of vehicles to ensure freight is safely secured in compliance with CoR requirements and prevent damage during transit. Ensure all dispatch documentation is accurate and complete
  • Manage and coordinate the activities of drivers on-site to ensure smooth operations
  • Manage the MHU Track and Trace process to ensure efficient tracking of freight.


WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 


Our ideal candidate has:
 

 

  • Experience in coordinating transport and dispatch operations, including working with transport suppliers and ensuring compliance with relevant regulations
  • A good understanding of safety standards, with the ability to identify and address safety issues and conduct basic compliance checks
  • Ability to manage daily freight volumes, coordinate vehicle capacity, and resolve common transport issues like delays or delivery discrepancies
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills, with proven ability to coordinate others, and building positive relationships with stakeholders
  • Basic commercial awareness, with experience in supporting cost efficiency initiatives and understanding site performance
  • Competent with Excel and able to use basic analytical skills to support operational improvements.


In addition to providing proof of work rights and suitable professional referees, progressed candidates will be required to undergo a medical assessment and national police check.
