Wharf Operations Supervisor | Port Melbourne VIC

YOUR ROLE


As the Wharf Operations Supervisor at Port Melbourne VIC, you’ll lead the day-to-day Wharf activities of a dedicated team of transport team leaders, and operators. You'll be coordinating all deliveries and the loading/unloading of trucks, supporting Transport Planners to organise driver’s daily workloads.


WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?


Specifically, you will:
 

  • Maintaining timely and accurate communication with customers (both internal and external), drivers and management.
  • Oversee the safe, efficient and compliant day-to-day operations of the site
  • Accurate shipment processing in line with customer requirements and as completed as per current work instructions and within set KPI timeframes
  • Driving continuous improvement in both team and individual performance and efficiently using the LEAN tools and CEVA principles
  • Lead and participate in people development strategies including talent management (succession planning), performance review and personal development plans


WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 


Our ideal candidate has experience in supervising / managing transport operations in any industry OR is ready to step-up to this level.


You should also have:
 

  • Experience and/or capability to coach, develop and engage an operational team
  • Experience in transport, warehousing and logistics supervision 
  • Good written and verbal communication, customer service / management, and influencing / negotiation skills
  • Problem solving capability, commercial acumen and numeracy skills
  • Basic-intermediate experience in MS Office applications, and capable of learning new systems, software and technologies


In addition to providing proof of work rights and suitable professional referees, progressed candidates will be required to undergo a medical assessment and national police check.
