Summary:  accountable for directing, leading and managing the business development sales efforts to identify and secure incremental revenue and market share within the dedicated Ground bd division. Responsible for achieving profitable volume growth consistent with marketing plan initiatives.  Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.

 

Typical responsibilities:

  • Lead a sales organization focused solely on the growth and development of the Ground dedicated business in North America, closely linked with the global dedicated sector.
  • Act as a key supporter of the team in closing dedicated Ground business.
  • Own and drive the dedicated Ground pipeline to achieve required levels.
  • Drive new business opportunities and growth through collaboration with the global dedicated sector, and field sales.
  • Provide leadership and direction to the sales teams to identify business opportunities and generate profitable sales in both new and existing accounts that meet and exceed new business revenue goals.
  • As a market pricing feedback owner, provide timely and accurate feedback to solution design (SD) teams regarding pricing provided based upon customer/market feedback.
  • Own and drive the size, quality, and accuracy of the overall pipeline for the dedicated Ground product.
  • Drive revenue by service type in line with sales strategy.
  • Execute business development plans (forecasts, budgets and operating plans) and provide leadership to the sales and marketing staff, operations, and systems delivery groups.
  • Monitor and review customer sales activity and make strategy adjustments as needed.
  • Build strategic relationships with key contacts within customer organizations to understand opportunities for creating value.
  • Capitalize on value creation opportunities by working closely with the sales, SD, and operations management team to develop creative workable solutions to customer needs.
  • Direct cross-selling opportunities to increase revenue and leverage relationships to better penetrate the market.
  • Leverage the company's global reach to influence decisions on projects for customer deliveries in both domestic and international locations.
  • Facilitate regular meetings with clients and relevant operations staff to evaluate performance and receive updates from clients on challenges and future plans.
  • Work collaboratively with the SD and operational teams at multiple sites and locations to ensure customers' needs and expectations are met.
  • Work with implementation teams on new projects to ensure customer expectations are communicated.
  • Ensure compliance with all company policies and procedures, iso standards and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Operate within budget on global and local sales salaries, entertainment, travel and promotions.
  • Lead all dedicated Ground business development efforts in NORTAM cluster, spearheading business development initiatives that are consistent with the company’s overall strategy.
  • Where specific ownership of key business or accounts is assigned, provide leadership, direction and management of required resources to support securing, developing and managing the business.
  • Guide develop and secure incremental revenue and market share from new business and existing accounts to achieve profitable volume growth consistent with marketing plan initiatives and regional revenue goals.
  • Direct, develop and execute a business development plan that will lead to the successful signing of new business.
  • Oversee the development, identification and qualification of new business development opportunities through various lead sources including sales team members and relationship managers.

 

 

Requirements:  

  • Proven “business-to-business” sales leadership in the transportation, logistics, or supply chain management industry.
  • Knowledge of the fundamentals of the contract logistics and familiarity with industry leaders and competitors.
  • In-depth knowledge of GROUND products and services.
  • Demonstrated success in initiating sales plans, analyzing profitability of prospects, and the ability to understand the competitive influences and risks associated with individual accounts.

 

Minimum:

  • Minimum fifteen years in a sales role, ideally in a fast paced dynamic organization with a transportation, logistics or supply chain company. 
  • Minimum ten years in a strong domestic / Ground role, ideally both in operations and sales.
  • Minimum ten years people leadership experience. 

 

Preferred:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business, Marketing, Finance or related field.
