YOUR ROLE
Responsible for providing comprehensive and specialized logistics and transportation engineering functions, assisting with serving as a lead to staff and leading or coordinating various projects or functions. Perform activities that involve the application of more comprehensive to specialized engineering principles and practices, develop metrics and proposals, and coordinate internal resources as required. Train, develop and mentor logistics staff, including on the job training, assisting with prioritizing and assigning work and providing work direction. Models and acts in accordance with our guiding principles and core values.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
- Serve as a lead to staff, which includes prioritizing and assigning work and providing work direction.
- Develop proposals or reports to outline current or proposed engineered designs, layouts, capacity, equipment, and operations; operations are specialized and comprehensive in nature.
- Prepare presentations for senior management regarding recommendations of studies and projects; may assist with presenting information.
- Review and respond to specialized and comprehensive internal or external customer requests, which includes applying engineering principles, drafting responses and outlines, and other professional support.
- Oversee and/or develop standard operating procedures, work instructions, and related materials.
- Lead the planning or outline of work, time, and efficiency studies, talk with supervisors and employees, and discuss with customers to apply and monitor operations.
- Lead or coordinate cost models, assumptions and risks for projects that are large in scope.
- Coordinate technical internal resources to respond to internal or external customer requests, such as determining types of teams or projects required, allocating questions to staff, and overseeing the gathering of responses.
- Develop specialized or more comprehensive metrics and goals for programs, oversee performance, and work with staff when potential problems are identified to bring to resolution.
- Oversee the technical communication with internal or external customers, to include potentially serving as a customer contact on overall performance, sensitive or specialized issues, and facilitating communications with management.
- Ensure processes and operations comply with applicable laws, rules and regulations; assist with interpretation within area and apply across operations.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Education and Experience:
- Bachelor’s Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent education and experience.
- Typically, at least 8 years of progressive experience, including 2 years of specialized or complex work.
- Professional certification may be required in some areas.
Preferred:
- Master’s Degree in related field.
Skills:
- Capable of applying more comprehensive professional industrial and mechanical engineering principles and practices.
- Ability to leverage several systems and databases for engineering management and oversee and ensure the accuracy of specialized databases through auditing, reviews and analysis.
- Able to assist with applying applicable laws, rules and regulations and ensuring compliance across operations.
- Ability to develop comprehensive cost and operational forecasts, comprehensive analytics, reports and communications within engineering.
- Capable of overseeing customer and operational communications and interaction and overseeing the development of metrics and measurements for engineering programs.
- Ability to train and mentor staff and provide work direction.
- Capable of communicating more specialized and comprehensive engineering information.
- Operates in both a team and individual contributor environment.
- Ability to oversee change management activities to Identify, communicate and resolve potential operational or analytical concerns.
- Capable of developing and delivering specialized engineering reports and presentations.
- Ability to facilitate communication cross customers, operations and other groups.
Travel: Travel is typically not required.
