QUALITY CONTROL SUPERVISOR

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
This position is responsible for supervising quality control personnel; preparing quality reports; participating in the analysis of daily quality reports to assist in identifying quality trends; determining staffing requirements to meet demand; providing leadership to promote continual improvement and efficiency; ensuring compliance with the requirements of inspection documentation and quality standards; trains Quality Control personnel on new and revised processes and procedures; ensures timely allocation of labor to meet inspection demands in all operational areas; reviews inspection, defect, and re-work documentation for accuracy; verifies team leads and inspectors notify appropriate members of management on all sample non-conformities in a timely manner; ensures inspectors perform work according to documented inspection procedures; and maintains an ongoing commitment to positive results and high performance in all issues regarding the quality of the company’s products and services.

Supervises personnel in the daily inspection functions.

Prepares all quality reports and analyzes such reports to identify negative and positive quality trends. Makes recommendations for improvements.

Determines weekly/ monthly staffing requirements to meet business needs.

Provides leadership and guidance to all staff for continual improvement of key functions and activities to improve efficiency and meet increasing customer and business demands.

Ensures compliance with all Inspection procedures; including requirements of the ANSI/ ASQC Z1.4 and ISO 9001 quality standards.

Trains Quality Control personnel on Inspection new/ revised processes and procedures.

Ensures labor is reallocated from one department to another as required to meet each day’s business needs, minimize overtime and reduce labor costs.

Ensures all inspection, nonconformance and re-work results are accurately documented, and provides legible and complete documentation. Records review must occur minimum of weekly, including any databases used to maintain inspection records.

Ensures Quality Control personnel immediately communicates all inspection sample nonconformities to department management for prompt corrective action and re-work.

Coordinate and lead ad hoc customer inspections as requested.

Responsible for managing the administrative tasks of validating Kronos punches and correcting missed punches (daily), checking Workday for employee actions needed (daily), executing the Corrective Action Responses and implementing corrective changes to meet the required timelines outlined in the process document and executing the Quarterly/Annual Employee Performance Appraisal processes meeting the HR timeline as published.

Create and implement cost savings through LEAN initiatives.

Be a contributing member on any special projects (I.E Kaizen, Shortage, Efficiency or Quality projects) as defined by the operations manager and or general manager.
WHAT YOU BRING TO THE ROLE?
Education and Experience
-
High School Degree or GED required.
-
Bachelor's Degree in Transportation, Logistics or Supply Chain Management preferred, or an equivalent of work experience.

Minimum three years' experience in Quality Control in a fast paced, high-volume distribution or manufacturing environment preferred.

Minimum one year supervisory or management experience required.
Certifications and Licenses
-
ASQ Certification (any) preferred.
Languages and Communication Skills

Must be able to read, write and speak English fluently.

Ability to communicate and interact effectively with people from multi-functional and diverse backgrounds.

Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations.

Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals.

Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from management, employees and customers.
Computer Skills
-
Intermediate proficiency in Microsoft Office, internet, web-based and job specific software applications.

Working knowledge of ITAR, Import Brokerage, Export Compliance, Hazmat Regulations, and recordkeeping.

Ability to allocate work assignments and/or tasks responsibilities to others to maximize the organization's and the individual's effectiveness.
