Network Optimization Manager

SUMMARY DESCRPTION:
The Network Optimization Manager is responsible for overseeing the efficient movement of cargo within a company or organization. They develop and implement strategies to optimize cargo flow processes, including transportation, logistics, and distribution. They collaborate with various stakeholders, such as suppliers, carriers, and internal teams, to ensure smooth operations and timely delivery of goods. The Network Optimization Manager of Cargo Flow also analyzes data and trends to identify areas for improvement and cost savings. They may also be responsible for managing a team and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Monitor the Cargo flow Team for all APL lines (in terms of retrieving forecasts and reporting) and follow up filing factor (allocation vs forecasts), evacuation plan and Empty Terminal repositioning to improve filing factor.
- Organize on daily basis, a forecast report (taking into account the shortfall). This report will be sent to Line Management & all Sales and relevant Marketing Team.
- Challenge, on one hand the equipment/intermodal/procurement teams and on another hand the sales/trade teams to get the optimum cargo flow number (empties + full).
- Take the lead on exceptional tasks generated by specific events such as add calls, change of rotation.
- Respect the strict respect of Remaining Guidance On Board (ROB) send by HO to prevent any space issue in the next bound trip (this including all ports of the rotation).
- Monitor the routing as per best route (faster/ cheaper) and check with Trade in case of schedule changes.
- Coordinate with the Logistic division they will check regularly stock in port including full / empties/ Soc etc.
- Manage and improve processes which should be applied in this area.
- As required, travel on site in order to assess the situation, meet with terminal, local agents, partners etc.
- Propose and maintain statistics database for follow up of volumes loaded in this area.
- Manage and maintain a close follow up and pro-active participation of Corporate It Tools evolution and advice local issues - including New Processes to be implement in the future.
- Train and organize a capable Cargo flow team able to operate efficiently within the next 12 >16 months.
QUALIFICATIONS
- Bachelor’s Degree required
- Master's Degree preferred
- Specialized knowledge in the Cargo Flow and Logistics processes with a minimum of 5 to 7 years
- International shipping experience and 3 years in a management capacity

- Self-motivated and have excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Attention to detail with strong organizational skills is required.
- Strong analytical skills and computer literacy with advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel.
