Inside Sales Representative

SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:

 

­­­­­­­The Inside Sales Support position works daily to support and maintain current APL business, as well as generate new business through strategic regional sales efforts.  As a member of the Sales Team, you will be on the fast track to future nation-wide opportunities within our outside sales force.  

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:

        

  • Provide administrative support to the General Manager.
  • Provide support for Outside Sales Team through the following means:
  • Preparing rate requests, bookings, bids and transportation cost analyses in response to requests directly from sales and customers.
  • Understanding customer needs and preparing presentations and proposals for the outside sales team directly related to those needs.
  • Conducting and presenting competitive analyses identifying APL’s strengths and advantages though means of written proposals, PowerPoint presentations, and other electronic business applications.
  • Contact customers daily directly to develop solid customer leads and communicate those to Regional Sales for follow-up.
  • Obtain customer feedback on the quotes provided as well as provide customers with information regarding APL’s services.
  • Manage all sales reports and model ship weekly.
  • Will assist with administrative requests, marketing tasks and coordination of events.
  • Must be able to multitask and work under pressure and timelines.
  • Will be responsible for managing their own assigned list of in-house accounts.
  • Will be responsible to contribute 25% of APL Guam’s overall model ship budget.

ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:         

  • High School Diploma/GED required
  • 2-5 years of sales/ industry experience is required
  • Written and spoken fluency in English languages preferred
  • College degree or related work experience equivalency
  • Advanced PC skills
  • Strong customer focus, time management and teaming skills
  • Excellent oral and written communication
  • Must have strong communication skills both internal and external.
  • Required to participate in customer focused functions in the evening or weekend.
  • Must have strong time management skills.
  • Must be able to work under pressure.
  • Must have strong organizational skills
