SUMMARY DESCRIPTION:
The primary function of this position is to monitor and control all aspects of Maintenance and Repair (M&R). The geographic region covered by this position are the Pacific Northwest Region (Seattle, Tacoma, Portland), Alaska, and Canda (Mainly Toronto, Montreal and Vancouver). Oversee vendor activities related to the repair of CMA equipment which include Refrigerated Containers, Dry Containers, Specialized Equipment (Flat Racks & Open Tarps), Gen Set Units and Chassis. Included in the activities is reviewing pictures of damages to validate estimates, maintaining vendor relationships and quarterly visits to vendors to conduct cost saving depot audits.

RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Manage M&R costs to ensure the region is within cost guidelines set by CMA CGM Corporate M&R.
• Review than adjust or decline repair estimates thru the CMA MNR systems which are Newport systems for the US and iMars for Canada.
• Review and then approve, adjust or decline paper estimates from vendors that are not submitting estimates through either system.
• Maintain an inspection program for on/off hired equipment within the regions. Review and then approve, adjust or decline these estimates once equipment is off-hired or on-hired.
• Following up with vendors to ensure repairs are completed in a timely manner, keeping long stay (over 30 days) units to a minimum.
• Rebill appropriate 3rd party damages to the party responsible for damaging the equipment.
• Identifies cost savings opportunities through review of data analysis of mar vendors per locations for cost savings.
• Assists management in the implementation/management of cost savings initiatives and identifying additional cost savings opportunities.
• Work with the Equipment Team to maintain equipment service levels in relation to customer demands. This includes reefer and genset availability.
• Assist the Port Ops team in arranging cargo surveys on flat racks and open tops whenever necessary.
• Work with the Container Incident Management team in handling distressed loads requiring emergency repairs, trans loads or other action.
• Obtain reefer Downloads as required / requested and convert same to text. / pdf files for viewing by internal / external personnel.
• Liaise with Corporate MNR and HO for obtaining DV’s and repair approvals for damage estimates when repair amount exceeds local approval guidelines.
• Directly manage the activities of the mechanics at Terminal T-18 in Seattle.
• Work closely with the CMA Procurement team to maintain a cost-effective network of vendors.
• Ensure the vendor audit program focuses on cost savings for CMA be assuring alignment with CMA guidelines.
• Developments and maintains a rapport with Repair vendors, Depot operators and Terminal Personnel Daily
• Scrutinize MNR estimates and repairs to ensure all repairs are needed.
• Creates 3rd party rebills as warranted and ensures all are accurately rebilled.
• Identifies cost savings through analysis of customer locations vs. trends compared to other areas within the region. Assists management in the implementation/management of cost savings initiatives and identifying additional cost savings opportunities.
• Supports management in the execution and oversight of cost-saving initiatives while identifying further opportunities for financial savings.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Vocational or Technical Diploma
- Associate's or Bachelor's Degree preferred
- Minimum 5-10 years in Shipping industry
- Minimum 5-10 years General industry
ADDITIONAL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
• Thorough knowledge of M&R as related to containers, chassis, gen sets and reefers.
• Thorough knowledge of US equipment operating environment within the respective Gulf Coast and West Coast Region, including M&R ILA labor at Marine Terminals, Off Dock Depots and M&R requirements.
• Thorough knowledge of “ILA MAJOR DAMAGE CRITERIA”
• Knowledge of HAZMAT requirements
• Proficient computer skills to include Microsoft Office applications.
