YOUR ROLE

Join the CMA CGM Group, a world leader in maritime transport and logistics, to contribute to reducing our environmental footprint. As a member of the R&D team, you will participate in energy transition and decarbonization projects, aiming to improve the energy performance of ships and develop new technological solutions.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?

•    You familiarize yourself with and consolidate CMA CGM’s database of over 600 vessels (model tests, CFD calculations, sea trials).
•    You improve the notion of ship propulsion by investigating the relationships between different propellers and the overall performance of the vessel.
•    You explore the history of energy-saving devices installed on CMA CGM vessels and the new technologies being evaluated, as well as their impact on the vessel’s overall performance.
•    You develop an approach to predict, at the early stages of a project, the impact of different optimizations on propulsion coefficients.
•    You interact with various experts within CMA CGM involved in the group’s decarbonization strategy to optimize the powertrain.
•    You support the R&D team in managing partners: writing technical specifications, selecting suppliers, following up and commenting on studies conducted by third parties.
•    You validate the performance prediction tool using newbuilding vessels and vessels already in operation with scheduled energy-saving device installations.

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR ?

•    You are currently pursuing a degree in engineering, with a specialization in Naval Architecture/
•    You have knowledge in naval architecture, ship propulsion, and CFD methods.
•    Knowledge of programming languages (Python/VBA) is a plus.
•    Knowledge of ship structures is a plus.
•    You are comfortable in English; French is a plus.
•    You appreciate teamwork, demonstrate adaptability, analytical thinking, curiosity, and a willingness to learn, and have attention to detail.
