YOUR ROLE :

 

You will be a staff member of the “Ships & People” team, part of CMA CGM “Shipping Law Department”. You will be responsible for handling litigations, drafting legal documents (contracts, acts, memos etc.). You’ll be in charge of protecting owner liability risks as far as casualties, damage to hull and machineries, crew work-related accidents or illnesses are concerned.

 

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO ?

 

  • First, you will have to provide the operational or commercial teams or any other departments with legal advices/expertise regarding any risks that may affect the owner, CMA CGM SA. In this regard, anticipation is of essence.
  • In addition, you will draft legal acts consisting in contracts, notices etc. and implement remedies/recoveries against insurers or third parties. You will also negotiate any liabilities cases/claims within the scope of the authorities granted by the company top management.
  • Finally, you will ensure an updated monitoring of the jurisprudence or cases-law or any ad hoc regulations and you will have to follow up/manage legal cases in a close association with the lawyers, solicitors, surveyors etc.
  • Keeping data and subsequent reporting are crucial.

 

 

WHO ARE WE LOOKING FOR? 

 

You have a postgraduate degree (secondary bachelor + 5 years) in Law (preferably shipping, insurances, international trade). You are fluent in written and spoken English, and you have a good command of office and IT tools.

In connection with all the services or departments of the company and several external parties (lawyers, bailiffs, insurers, clients, suppliers…), you have good interpersonal skills.

Your rigour, your responsiveness and your capacity for analysis and synthesis will enable you to defend the Group interests at best.
