Trade Manager, Intra Asia

 

CHENG LIE Navigation Company (CNC Line) is a leader in intra-Asia trade. Subsidiary of the CMA CGM Group, CNC Line offers personalized services and has specific expertise in the transport of containers with temperature control (refrigerated containers or Reefers).

 

 

Role Overview

As part of our dynamic CNC brand, you will report to the Deputy Line Manager and be responsible for managing the commercial performance of your assigned service(s) within the Intra-Asia market. This includes providing analytical support through data gathering, customer profiling, and evaluating performance against our pricing strategies.

Working closely with the team, you will focus on maximizing revenue, enhancing profitability, and supporting the growth of our digital products to drive customer engagement and business impact.

Success in this role requires strong analytical skills, a keen eye for detail, and effective cross-functional communication, enabling you to make data-driven decisions and contribute meaningfully to strategic initiatives.

 

Key Responsibilities:

Trade Performance & Strategy

  • Monitor trade performance (P&L, revenue, volumes, market share) and provide insights to support strategic decisions.
  • Guide frontline offices on cargo mix and vessel utilization to maximize capacity and profitability.
  • Conduct market research and reporting to support trade development and value-added services.

 

Pricing & Revenue Management

  • Develop and manage pricing strategies for intra-Asia trade lanes, ensuring competitiveness and profitability.
  • Respond to pricing, bid, contract, and rate enquiries in a timely manner.
  • Monitor supply and demand trends and adjust pricing policies in line with market conditions.
  • Ensure accurate contract execution and rate filing in internal systems.

 

Data Analysis & Reporting

  • Analyze export/import and sales performance statistics by region or country, identifying causes of underperformance.
  • Profile customers using data and collaborate internally to align customer fit with pricing strategy.
  • Compile data for reporting and presentations (e.g., PowerPoint), including business insights for management.

 

Digital & Project Support

  • Support the Digital Trade team by tracking digital product usage and implementing improvement measures.
  • Assist in coordinating ongoing and new projects across relevant departments.

 

Stakeholder & Relationship Management

  • Maintain proactive communication with external stakeholders, including customers, conferences, and frontline offices.
  • Support tendering, rate discussions, and alignment with local market practices.

 

What We’re Looking For

  • Bachelor’s degree in Maritime Studies, Business, or a related discipline preferred.
  • Minimum 4 years of experience in the container shipping industry, with a focus on pricing or yield management.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel (including basic functions, VLOOKUP, PivotTables; macros is a plus) and general Microsoft Office applications.
  • Familiarity with the logistics and supply chain industry is an added advantage.
