Area Manager (f/m/d)

For our SSL INEUR Head Office in Hamburg, we are looking to fill the position of Area Manager (f/m/d) at the earliest possible date.
Key Responsibilities
You drive the commercial development of three of our most strategic customer segments. Alongside the Trade Manager, you own pricing execution, portfolio growth and commercial coordination across our agencies - the link between Sales, Trade, Operations and the market.
Commercial Development
- Implement the commercial strategy for Reefer, Tank and International Freight Forwarder segments
- Grow and retain your portfolio; qualify new business opportunities
Pricing & Tenders
- Own quotations, pricing requests and tenders — competitive and profitable
- Apply and maintain structured pricelists in line with trade strategy and yield targets
Stakeholder Management
- Act as the commercial reference point for local agencies on pricing and commercial matters
- Coordinate with Sales, Operations, Customer Service and Trade to deliver customer solutions
Market Intelligence
- Track market trends, competitor moves and customer developments; convert insight into action
Performance & Governance
- Steer segment KPIs and recommend measures to improve revenue quality
- Support budgeting, forecasting and reporting; improve pricing processes
Success Metrics
- Volume, revenue and contribution vs budget per segment
- Portfolio growth — business won and retained
- Quotation turnaround and tender win rate
- Pricing consistency and pricelist adoption across agencies
Your Profile
- Master’s degree in Business, Transport, Logistics or a related field
- Minimum 2 years in commercial, pricing or trade management within shipping or logistics
- Exposure to Reefer, Tank or Freight Forwarder business is an advantage
- Strong analytical skills; confident in Microsoft Excel
- Persuasive communicator, at ease with stakeholders across functions and countries
- Entrepreneurial, independent, and comfortable at pace
- English fluent; further European languages, e.g. Spanish or German, are a plus
