Business Control Analyst (f/m/d) Land Operations & Intermodal

For our Short Sea Lines - Intra North Europe Headoffice in Hamburg we are recruiting a Business Control Analyst (f/m/d) Land Operations & Intermodal

 

Mission

 

As a Business Analyst (f/m/d) for Land Operations and Intermodal, you will play a central role in driving performance, identifying growth opportunities, and supporting the development of strategic initiatives. Your scope covers analytics, operational coordination, process improvement, and knowledge-sharing to optimize inland logistics and intermodal solutions across the 16 countries of the North Europe region.

 

Your responsibilities:

 

Business Analysis & Reporting

  • Consolidate and analyze data from Financial, booking and quotation systems
  • Produce comprehensive reports (e.g., Land Identity Cards, Matchback & AM–PM reports) for both Headquarters and country-level stakeholders
  • Perform margin and performance analyses with insights into operational evolution and profitability
  • Lead GAP analysis and ensure system consistency, including proposing corrective actions

 

Commercial Support & Strategy Execution

  • Support the development and monitoring of commercial action plans to grow Carrier Haulage (CH) and enhance green ratio KPIs
  • Drive the collection and optimization of extra service revenues in collaboration with Customer Service
  • Contribute to product development initiatives such as new routings, services, and investment opportunities

 

Process Optimization & Interdepartmental Collaboration

  • Act as a key interface between Land Operations, Trade, and Commercial teams to propose solutions and enhance cross-functional collaboration
  • Become a subject matter expert on landside quotation processes and support internal stakeholders with relevant guidance
  • Propose and follow up on margin improvement actions for low-performing areas

 

Network Animation & Knowledge Sharing

  • Animate and coordinate the network of ILS and Cross-Sell Managers based on strategy and data from HQ Intermodal Department
  • Promote the sharing of best practices and regional learnings across country teams
  • Challenge sales managers on pricing strategy and foster cross-collaboration between sales and intermodal functions

 

You bring aboard:

 

  • Prior experience in Land operations and/or Intermodal logistics is highly desirable
  • Strong analytical capabilities and data interpretation skills
  • Fluency in English is mandatory; Spanish is a plus
  • Proficiency in Excel and familiarity with business intelligence tools
  • Clear communication of technical and commercial topics
  • Solution-oriented mindset with a proactive and curious attitude
  • Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational skills
