THE ROLE | PURPOSE
As Short Sea Director for CMA CGM Short Sea Lines North Europe (SSL NEUR), you will be accountable for the leadership and delivery of SSL NEUR strategies, working in close collaboration with the UK General Manager and Group Head Office, to clearly define short and longer term objectives in support of current and future business goals.
An immediate focus for you will be to lead the continued integration of SSL NEUR teams into the broader CMA CGM Group, collaborating with key stakeholders from SSL INEUR teams as well as the broader CMA CGM group, ensuring inclusive and effective change management principles are applied throughout.
Not only that, you will play a critical role in defining and leading commercial development and CX initiatives, aligned to the short and longer-term goals of the SSL NEUR business.
A strong people Leader, you will champion and embed the Company’s Employee Engagement culture, providing clear and influential leadership to the SSL NEUR teams, fostering a culture of high performance and high engagement.
WHAT WILL YOU BE DOING | KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Plan, direct and execute agreed Short Sea business strategies, in line with guidelines of the Head Offices of Short Sea Business.
- Lead on the integration of the SSL NEUR teams into the CMA CGM Group, with particular focus on ensuring effective change management principles are applied.
- Mentor, coach and develop Managers and colleagues in the SSL NEUR business, to support business needs and to provide stability in the SSL NEUR structure.
- Promote a culture of high performance from SSL NEUR colleagues, through the effective application of robust performance management, effectively managing expectations and performance issues to ensure that colleagues work well together and are fully engaged
- Define and lead the optimisation of operational procedures (i.e. Sales, Business Development and Customer Service).
- In coordination with UK&I General Manager and UK&I HR policies and procedures, effectively manage resource budgets and overall structure of the SSL NEUR business.
- Work closely with CCIS UK (Landside operation) to design and develop end to end profitable solutions that meet our customer’s needs
- Accountability for Land Assets and PNL.
- Meet Key Performance Indicators (Sales TEUs, P&L, E2E Contribution, Service Levels etc.).
- Full responsibility for achieving volume, allocation utilization, land margins and Yield or Net to value/FEU (= contribution per TEU) targets set by Intra Europe Short Sea Business Head Office.
- Ownership of SSL NEUR budgets, expenses, costs and overall profitability.
- Responsible to provide and generate value initiatives for the cost saving and cost efficiency projects strategic to the company i.e. Agility, Simplification.
WHAT DO WE NEED FROM YOU? | KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE
- Proven strategic leadership experience in a cross-functional capacity relevant industry i.e. Shipping / Containerised operations / Short Sea.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with ability to develop and manage effective working relationships at all levels.
- Proven track record of leadership in cross functional/regional positions (international experience advantageous, but not essential).
- Demonstrable Project and Change management expertise, with proven track record of timely delivery of large-scale change initiatives.
- Proven experience of effectively managing Resource budgets & P&L for designated business.
- Highly developed problem identification and solving skills to ensure the optimal solution is reached.
- Proven decision making and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence key (Senior) stakeholders.
- Demonstrable People leadership and management experience, with proven ability to instil a culture of high performance and high engagement within teams
