Sr Business Analyst, Military Projects

Position Summary
The Senior Analyst, MilitaryProjects is responsible for supporting APL’s operational and commercial coordination for U.S. Military cargo movements worldwide. The role assists with flawless execution of high-visibility shipments, including One-Time-Only (OTO) moves, military exercises, and specialized government logistics programs. The Senior Analyst works alongside the Director and supports the Control Tower for U.S. Militaryshipments across the APL and CMA CGM network, coordinating closely with Trade, CargoFlow, Customer Service,Agency teams, and U.S. Military stakeholders to ensure operational readiness, pricing competitiveness, and service excellence. The position supports the development of internal processes, knowledge management, and tracking systems that enable APL to successfully grow its U.S. Military businesswhile maintaining the highest standards of operational reliability, compliance, and customer service. The role also supports USC-10pricing preparation and execution for the annual USC refresh exercise.The position will also retain and support various billing exercises across the APL enterprise.

 

Functions & Duties
1.    Military OTO Execution & Control Tower 
       a.    Support operational coordination and execution of all Military OTO and high-visibility shipments.
       b.    Support internal process for OTO allocation, dispatch, and execution across APL stakeholders.
       c.    Assist and maintain a comprehensive OTO tracker to monitor milestones, responsibilities, and operational risks.
       d.    Coordinate cross-department execution between Trade, C-Flow, Operations, Customer Service, and Agency teams.
       e.    Participate in weekly OTO coordination meetings to identify operational issues, assign responsibilities, and ensure resolution.
       f.    Ensure APL shipments receive operational priority across the CMA CGM Group network.    
2.    Process Development & Knowledge Management 
       a.    Assist in maintaining a centralized knowledge base covering military cargo specifications, unique ports, and operational constraints.
       b.    Document operational challenges and lessonslearned to improvepricing accuracy and execution reliability
       c.    Maintain reference directories for military logistics procedures, documentation requirements, and operational contacts
       d.    Execute standardized tracking and reporting processes to improve coordination across APL teams.    
3.    USC-10 Pricing Strategy& Bid Management 
       a.    As directed assist in preparation and coordination of APL’s annualUSC-10 pricing submissions.
       b.    Prepare data for Trade Director to perform lane analysis to identify strategicopportunities within the Top 100 military shipping lanes.    
4.    Billing
       a.    Assist in billing as assigned across APL Trade and ACGL team    

 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities 
•    Manage a high transaction workload and ability to track multiple activities
•    Working knowledge of “cross border” operations utilizing multiple service partners
•    Working knowledge of US State Department, US Military logistics, Commercial Invoice Packings lists and Ocean Bills of Lading
•    Working knowledge of tracking and tracing cargo in APL/CMA Systems
•    Cost tracking and control
•    Understanding container shipping operations and global trade networks.
•    Strong cross-functional coordination skills across commercial, operational, and compliance teams.
•    Strong analytical capabilities including pricing analysis and market lane evaluation.
•    Support operational projects involving multiple internal and external stakeholders.
•    Strong communication and stakeholder management skills.
•    Ability to support structured tracking systems and operational processes.
•    Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and PowerPoint.

At American President Lines, we are committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The expected salary range for this position is $83,000 - $106,000 per year. The actual salary offered will be based on a variety of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience, and location.
In addition to base salary, this position may be eligible for:
