YOUR ROLE

 

Our team based in Barnoldswick, Lancashire who provide logistics and supply chain solutions for a prestigious client in the aerospace industry, are looking for a highly organised and client focused Operations Controller where you will oversee two core shifts leading efficient planning targets, driving organisation, operational excellence and effective communication to ensure that the team are meeting and achieving operational objectives and client service levels.

 

This amazing opportunity will see you working Monday to Friday on a day shift, managing a team of nine across two operations that are in close proximity.

 

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

 

Reporting into the Regional Operations Manager, you will lead a diverse team of warehouse coordinators, operatives and drivers where you will embed, empower and encourage your team to drive engagement, continuous improvement, quality, safety, and performance targets to meet the needs of the operation. You will manage and deploy operational controls ensuring resource across shifts and reporting on performance and productivity and address and investigate service failures, ensuring remedial action and implementing longer term solutions. You will also lead site-based audits in cooperation with operational management and functional experts to ensure that the site meets regulatory requirements and health and safety standards.

 

While this role requires a hands-on approach, you will collaborate regularly not only with internal management, administration and control tower teams but also engage regularly with the client attending customer meetings where you will provide operational performance and productivity updates, therefore you will be a natural communicator, influencer and problem solver able to build strong working relationships at all levels.

 

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

 

To be successful in your application you will have proven experience of leading or supervising a warehousing or logistics team, practiced in people management activities such as absence management, holiday and sickness cover. You will have strong health and safety awareness, and continuous improvement mindset experienced in LEAN techniques or Kaizen activities.

 

You will have proven experience in statistical analysis and reporting, capable of using WMS systems and IT packages such as MS Excel and comfortable in presenting operational productivity, improvements and cost-saving initiatives to the client and management where you will have a resilient and pragmatic approach.

 

It would be advantageous, however not essential if you have proven experience of working in the Aerospace industry.
