YOUR ROLE

We are looking for an experienced and commercially minded Head of HR Shared Services & Payroll to lead our functions on an interim basis for an initial 9 month period.

This is an exciting opportunity to play a key role within our HR function, leading our HR Shared Services and Payroll teams to deliver an accurate, compliant and customer-focused service across our business.

With a strong focus on payroll accuracy, compliance and operational excellence, you’ll bring the expertise and leadership needed to maintain effective service delivery, strengthen governance and identify opportunities to improve our processes. You will provide operational oversight across HR Shared Services and Payroll, ensuring processes are robust, service standards are maintained and colleagues receive a consistent, high-quality experience.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

  • Provide leadership and operational oversight across both functions, ensuring effective, consistent and customer-focused service delivery.
  • Ensure payroll activities are delivered accurately and on time.
  • Maintain robust processes, controls and audit trails, ensuring payroll and HR administration activities comply with relevant legislation, company policies and internal governance requirements.
  • Monitor service levels, backlogs, response times and resolution rates, using ticketing-system data to identify issues, manage priorities and improve performance.
  • You’ll also play a key role in supporting business implementations and operational changes, ensuring HR Shared Services and Payroll processes are effectively integrated, risks are managed and business continuity is maintained throughout.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

  • Significant experience in payroll operations, with a strong technical understanding of payroll processes and controls.
  • A strong track record of operating within a complex, multi-stakeholder or matrix organisation.
  • Demonstrable experience of payroll governance, risk management, audit requirements and maintaining robust compliance standards.
  • Experience using a ticketing or case-management system to manage queries, monitor service levels, track resolution and report on performance.
  • Experience managing teams, competing priorities and escalations in a fast-paced environment.
  • A data-driven approach, with the ability to analyse service performance, identify root causes and implement improvements.
  • The ability to quickly understand an existing operating model, build credibility and make a positive impact in an interim role.

WHAT DO WE HAVE TO OFFER?

With a genuine culture of reward and recognition, we want our employees to grow, develop and be part of our journey. We offer a benefits package that includes competitive annual leave entitlement with a fantastic holiday buy scheme, pension and life assurance along with access to an employee benefits platform that offers discounts on gym memberships and money off vouchers for a diverse range of retail, travel and hospitality brands.
