This role plays a critical part in managing end-to-end ocean export shipments, ensuring efficient and cost-effective delivery solutions while providing excellent customer service. You will act as a key point of contact for customers, coordinating shipments, proactively resolving issues and maintaining strong working relationships across the business and with external partners.
We are offering a salary of up to £35,000, dependent on experience, along with the opportunity to work on a hybrid basis, with a minimum of three days per week in the office.

Reporting into the Ocean Export Supervisor, you will play a key role in managing and coordinating end-to-end ocean export shipments from booking through to final delivery. You will take ownership of your allocated shipments and customers, working closely with internal teams, overseas colleagues, suppliers and external partners to ensure smooth operations, full visibility and excellent service throughout the shipment lifecycle. You will manage shipment bookings, monitor progress and maintain accurate documentation and system updates, ensuring all activity is completed in line with company procedures and relevant regulatory requirements. This will include coordinating transport and associated services, supporting customs clearance where required, and proactively identifying and resolving any issues that could impact delivery or customer expectations.
Acting as the primary point of contact for your allocated customers, you will manage enquiries, quotations, requests, claims and complaints with a solutions-focused approach, building strong relationships and delivering a consistently high level of service. You will also take responsibility for cost control and financial accuracy, reviewing charges, duties, VAT and associated fees where applicable, while ensuring shipments are invoiced and managed correctly. Alongside your day-to-day responsibilities, you will support the wider Ocean team in achieving operational KPIs and contribute to continuous improvement initiatives that enhance efficiency, service delivery and the overall customer experience.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
Our ideal candidate will have proven ocean import experience, ideally gained within a freight forwarding or logistics operation. You will have strong knowledge of freight forwarding processes, particularly ocean freight activities, and will be comfortable working in a fast-paced ocean or multimodal environment while confidently managing multiple priorities. You will be a strong communicator, capable of building effective relationships both internally and externally while delivering a high standard of customer service.
You will be a proactive problem solver with a logical approach, able to prioritise your workload while maintaining a high level of accuracy and efficiency. Being a collaborative team player is essential, alongside the ability to work independently when required. You will also be IT literate, with the ability to use Microsoft Office packages and freight management systems. Experience using CargoWise would be advantageous.
