Warehouse Maintenance Specialist - Cape Town
Join CEVA Logistics South Africa as a Warehouse Maintenance Specialist within the Logistics Operations division, based in Cape Town. This role is a key position within the Warehouse Area Management department, supporting our Contract Logistics business unit.
About the Role
As a Warehouse Maintenance Specialist, you will be responsible for ensuring the optimal functioning and safety of all warehouse facilities and equipment. Your role is vital in maintaining operational efficiency by identifying maintenance needs, performing repairs, and coordinating preventative maintenance activities to minimise downtime and support seamless logistics operations.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct routine inspections of warehouse infrastructure, machinery, and equipment to ensure compliance with safety and operational standards.
- Perform troubleshooting, repair, and maintenance of mechanical, electrical, and structural components within the warehouse environment.
- Coordinate and liaise with external contractors and service providers for specialised repairs and maintenance projects.
- Maintain accurate records of maintenance activities, repair logs, and asset management documentation.
- Support implementation of health and safety protocols, ensuring that all maintenance operations comply with regulatory requirements and company policies.
- Assist in planning and executing scheduled maintenance programs to prevent equipment failure and extend asset lifespan.
- Collaborate closely with warehouse operations teams to understand operational challenges and provide maintenance solutions that improve workflow efficiency.
- Participate in emergency response maintenance efforts to quickly resolve critical issues that impact warehouse operations.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have a strong technical background in maintenance within warehouse or industrial environments, coupled with a proactive approach to problem-solving. A commitment to health and safety and an ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team is essential.
- Proven experience in warehouse or industrial maintenance roles.
- Sound knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and structural maintenance principles and practices.
- Experience working within logistics or contract logistics settings, maintaining or repairing coffee machines is advantageous.
- Strong organisational and communication skills, with the ability to document maintenance tasks clearly and accurately.
- Ability to prioritise tasks and manage time efficiently under minimal supervision.
- Knowledge of health and safety regulations relevant to warehouse maintenance.
- Flexibility to respond to urgent maintenance needs that may arise outside of regular working hours.
- Relevant technical certifications or trade qualifications are preferred.
