YOUR ROLE
We have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Shift Manager to join our operation based in East Midlands Gateway, Derby, to manage the pick, pack, dispatch and shipping operation across a time critical fast track operation ensuring tight SLAs are adhered to whilst maintaining operational excellence.
This is a Sunday to Wednesday- week 1/Sunday to Tuesday- week 2 - 12:00 - 00:00 shift.
WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?
Reporting into the Operations Manager, you will be responsible for leading, coordinating and motivating warehouse team to ensure operational targets are consistently achieved across customer service, delivery, productivity, quality, financial performance, Lean initiatives, and safety standards.
Working closely with Stock and Planning teams, you will coordinate daily workflow and operational volumes, ensuring labour resources are effectively planned to meet changing customer demands. You will be responsible for monitoring operational performance, managing KPIs, and identifying opportunities to improve quality, cost, and service across the operation. You will support and drive continuous improvement initiatives, ensuring best practice is embedded throughout the site.
You will maintain the highest standards of Health & Safety, Environmental and Quality (HSEQ) compliance, proactively identifying and removing risks and promoting a positive safety culture across your teams.
You will also play an active role in recruitment, onboarding, training, and development activities, working in partnership with HR and operational stakeholders to ensure the site has the capability and succession plans required to support future growth.
The successful candidate will be an effective leader who can engage and motivate teams, foster collaboration across departments, and create a positive team culture focused on achieving shared operational goals.
WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?
We are looking for an experienced Shift Manager or Shift Leader from a 3PL or warehousing background, ideally within FMCG or eCommerce operations. The successful candidate will have strong experience in people management, budget responsibility, and delivering against target-driven objectives.
You will be a confident and robust leader, passionate about motivating and developing teams, with strong attention to detail and a commitment to following and championing company procedures. The ability to manage a multi-functional team in a fast-paced environment is essential, along with strong communication skills and the ability to work independently and as part of a wider leadership team.
You will demonstrate good initiative, problem-solving ability, and sound business awareness, with solid working knowledge of MS Office (Outlook, Excel, Word).
