YOUR ROLE

The primary purpose of the Senior Linux Engineer role is to lead the design and implementation of Linux deployment automation strategies, utilizing expertise in Ansible, CI/CD pipelines. This role focuses on creating efficient and streamlined processes for deploying Linux systems within the company's IT infrastructure and cloud hyperscalers (GCP, AWS, Azure), optimizing productivity and scalability.

WHAT ARE YOU GOING TO DO?

• Design and maintain the linux automation engine responsible for the deployment of all VMs and Cloud VMs
• Collaborate with application teams to come up with linux OS standards and templates for their apps.
• Ensure that solutions are scalable, highly available, and secure
• Understand and implement best practices for infrastructure as code and continuous integration/continuous deployment (CI/CD)
• Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure-related issues during implementation phase in a timely manner
• Continuously monitor and improve infrastructure and application performance
• Keep up to date with the latest technologies and industry trends in infrastructure design and management

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FOR?

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or a related field
• 5+ years engineering and operating Linux at scale (RHEL and/or SUSE) in a production enterprise environment. Demonstrable experience owning an automated provisioning pipeline delivering VMs at volume (tens per week) across hybrid estate. Experience acting as technical lead / senior reference point in a small engineering team
  Automation / Tooling :
• Deep, hands-on Ansible: role and collection design, idempotency, inventory strategy, variable precedence, testing. 
• AWX/Ansible Automation Platform: job templates, workflows, credentials, inventory sources, RBAC. 
• Foreman/Katello for provisioning, host groups, templates and lifecycle. Git-based workflow with peer review. Python for tooling, API integration and modules/filters beyond basic scripting; Bash
• Platform & Infra :
• VMware vSphere VM provisioning at template level (customisation, hardware profiles, resource placement). Native VM provisioning on at least two of AWS, GCP, Azure. 
  Working understanding of: 
  •    networking (VLANs, subnetting, routing, DNS, firewalling, load balancer integration, cloud VPC/subnet and security group models)
  •    storage (datastores, block vs file, multipathing, LVM, capacity and performance implications). Ability to translate those constraints into standard templates and playbooks
